When Alan stepped into the heart of the lake, several streaks of blood suddenly surfaced from its calm, mirror-like surface.
The ambushers lurking beneath the water clearly overestimated themselves. They had naively assumed that hiding in the depths would guarantee their success in taking Alan down.
What they never expected, however, was that Alan had never entered the water in the first place. The only thing submerged was his staff.
Had they chosen a frontal assault instead, these attackers—if united—might have posed a moderate threat to Alan. But unfortunately for them, they'd gotten clever in all the wrong ways. Each had split up, choosing to ambush him one by one, believing it offered a higher chance of victory.
That critical misjudgment sealed their miserable fate.
"Hm? What's this?!" Alan suddenly narrowed his eyes. His expression sharpened, clarity returning to his gaze.
