"Finally!" I exclaimed, breathing heavily, grasping the crude dagger taken from the goblin I defeated.
Olivia's voice echoed from behind. "Nice work, Lucy."
I nodded, glancing at the bow and quiver of arrows slung over her shoulder. Mysterious weapon drops filled the building, and Olivia's bow was one.
A sword or dagger had tempted me, but my disguised class required a different skillset. Still, I had to maintain the illusion, which was why I claimed the goblin's dagger.

Now, with Perceive (Lvl. 1), I could see the basic stats of objects and creatures within my sight. Acquired after defeating my second goblin, it had proven invaluable.
"Let's move, or we'll get left behind," Olivia said, passing me.
I couldn't help but eye her suspiciously. "Olivia, do you have a crush on Daniel?" I blurted.
Her pace halted, and she spun around, face flushing red. "What are you talking about?" she snapped, her death stare intensifying.
I met her gaze, unfazed, awaiting an answer.
"O-of course not..." Olivia stuttered, noticing my serious expression.
"Why did you ask that?" She countered, raising an eyebrow, her face still flushed.
I shrugged nonchalantly. "Nothing special..."
But inwardly, I had ulterior motives. I considered revealing my true class to her, yet her potential to share secrets with Daniel, given her possible crush, made me hesitant. Her nature made me question whether I could trust her entirely.
"Let's move," I said, shelving my thoughts for now. Revealing my secret to Olivia risked Daniel uncovering it, given their potential closeness.
We descended from the first floor and reached the second-to-last floor. Our progress halted at the stairway leading to the final floor, where a formidable obstacle awaited.
A hulking, terrifying goblin guarded the stairs, its massive frame blocking our path. We had no choice but to confront the beast to reach the last floor.
The goblin towered before us, radiating an unsettling, domineering aura. Its presence was unlike anything I'd encountered.
I turned to Daniel, expecting alarm, but his calm demeanor belied the danger. His eyes narrowed, scrutinizing the beast as he formulated a strategy.
"I have a plan," he said finally, his voice low and measured. "This time, it's just the three of us: Olivia, Jace, and you." His hand on my shoulder drew my attention, and I nodded, trusting his leadership.
"Here's the plan," Daniel said, his eyes locking onto each of us in turn. "Olivia, Jace, you two take point on the smaller goblins. Lucy, you'll provide support from the rear. I'll make a beeline for the Goblin Champion and draw its attention."
I nodded, impressed by the thoroughness of Daniel's plan. It sounded solid, and I had no reason to doubt his strategy.
"Let's go!" Daniel shouted, and Olivia and Jace charged forward, drawing the attention of the smaller goblins. The creatures snarled, baring their disgusting teeth.
With the two goblins distracted, the Goblin Champion remained, its eyes fixed on Daniel as he ran straight towards it. "Rrrra!" it bellowed, swinging its massive club in a wide arc. Daniel barely dodged the attack, his agility allowing him to avoid the blow.
However, his inexperience in fighting monsters was evident, and it likely held him back. Given that the apocalypse had only occurred minutes ago, it was understandable that Daniel wasn't yet seasoned in combat.
I crept forward, my eyes fixed on Daniel and the Goblin Champion. As soon as the creature came into my line of sight, its stats popped up in front of me:
[Goblin Champion, Level 2]
[Health: 500/500]
The Goblin Champion was only level 2, but to us, it was a formidable foe, akin to a boss monster. I waited for the perfect moment to strike, watching for an opening. Spotting the Goblin's blind spot, I seized the opportunity and attacked, landing a precise blow that made the creature howl in pain.
The Goblin Champion stumbled, its massive club wavering in the air as it clutched at its side. Daniel took advantage of the distraction, striking the creature with a swift kick that sent it stumbling backward.
"Nice timing!" Daniel shouted, his eyes locking onto mine for a brief moment before refocusing on the Goblin Champion.
I nodded, already moving to position myself for another attack. The Goblin Champion was far from defeated, and we needed to end this fight quickly before it recovered.
With a fierce battle cry, the Goblin Champion charged toward us, its club swinging wildly. Daniel and I dodged and weaved, avoiding the creature's blows as we waited for another opening to strike.
The Goblin Champion's club crashed to the ground mere inches from Daniel's feet, sending shards of rock flying in all directions. I seized the opportunity, dashing forward to strike the creature's exposed flank.
My blow landed with a satisfying thud, and the Goblin Champion's health bar dropped to 300/500. Daniel followed up with a swift kick, further whittling down the creature's health.
As the Goblin Champion stumbled, its movements becoming increasingly erratic, I noticed something peculiar. A small, glowing orb had appeared above its head, pulsing with an otherworldly energy.
"Daniel, look!" I shouted, pointing at the orb. "What is that?"
Daniel's eyes flicked toward the orb, his expression a mix of curiosity and caution. "I don't know, but I think it's connected to the Goblin Champion's strength," he said, his voice low and thoughtful.
As if to prove Daniel's point, the Goblin Champion's body began to glow with a faint, eerie light. Its muscles bulged, and its eyes turned a malevolent shade of red.
"It's powering up!" I warned, my heart racing with anticipation. "We need to finish it off, fast!"
Daniel nodded, his face set in a determined expression. "Let's do this!" he shouted, charging forward with a fierce battle cry.
I followed close behind, our swords clashing with the Goblin Champion's club in a flurry of steel and stone. The creature's powered-up state made it a formidable foe, but we fought in perfect sync, our movements a testament to our growing camaraderie.
As the battle raged on, the glowing orb above the Goblin Champion's head began to pulse with increasing intensity. I knew we had to end this fight quickly, before the creature unleashed whatever powerful attack it was building up to.
With a mighty swing, Daniel struck the final blow, his sword slicing through the Goblin Champion's defenses and finding its mark in the creature's heart. The orb exploded in a shower of sparks, and the Goblin Champion's body crumpled to the ground, defeated.
