Chapter 58 - - Different Type of Crime

Two days later...

"Are you sure that your tips are trusted?"

"Yes, you won't be disappointed. Now can you start?"

*Sigh.* "Fine."

The two brothers, Weng and Frizz, conversed while staring at a polluted river. A huge tarpaulin banner was hung above the river, held by wires, displaying a promise to clean the river if the local politician was elected as the Mayor.

Weng scoffed at the tarpaulin banner, several promises were made by several mayors and local town captains, but to no avail. This time, he was going to take matters to his own hands.

Weng managed to acquire several tips about criminal activities, and he will reveal these locations to Frizz in exchange for cleaning the polluted river.

Frizz rolled his eyes but eventually accepted, hovering above the river.

Several pieces of discernible garbage from the bottom of the river telekinetically floated upwards as Weng motioned for Frizz to pile them up nearby.

"No, don't start there! Start in that stagnant section. The one where there is a huge pile-up."

Frizz nodded, heading towards the pile up and causing him to cover his nose. "That stench..."

Frizz held out his right hand, telekinetically moving the debris away and piling it up. Weng smiled, seeing the flow of the river increase as the pile up was removed.

"This is good, keep up the good work! I will wait here. Over."

The hours slowly passed by as two brothers worked together to clean the polluted river. The threat of being caught and recorded loomed over them, but if someone passed by, Frizz would stop and pace around the area.

Four hours later...

Frizz drank from a water bottle, exhausted from the clean-up and flying. However, a content smile formed on his face because of him, and the river was cleaner.

[System]

New Perk Acquired: [Cleaner] via Milestone.

Achievement: An outstanding citizen.

[Cleaner] Description: Upon a refreshing bath, the perk user is slightly more confident.

Frizz scoffed at the achievement, another lame and forgettable perk.

(The talent that I barely managed to grind yesterday was more rewarding.)

"System, show me boundless chance again."

[System]

Showcasing new talent.

『Boundless Chance』Displaying descriptions:After defeating an enemy. The talented user's physical, magical, and telekinetic prowess are significantly boosted. This effect lasts for ten minutes and can be stacked up to five times.

A small smile formed on Frizz's face as his older brother approached with another water bottle in hand.

"You need to improve your powers. You can do more. I am sure." Weng suggested, looking at the results. "The work today is rather sloppy. We had to stop if someone passed by."

"It's enough. Now the tips."

"No, it's not! The reason why this river was polluted from the first place was because of improper waste disposal due to poor education and information." Weng snapped at his younger brother's uncaring and transactional attitude.

"We need to stop people from throwing their trash here."

"That's what the signs are for." Frizz pointed at the signs that his older brother had placed.

Weng was about to say something, but Frizz interrupted him.

"Now give me the tips."

"Could you at least remove the pile up? That horrible stench is nauseating and people are going to be suspicious. Use your telekinesis."

"Use my telekinesis? How? What do you want me to do, fling this shit to space?"

"If possible."

Frizz sighed, exhausted. "Give me the tips. If I am lucky, then I should be able to unlock more powers."

"Fine." Weng relented, handing out a piece of paper. "How does your power work anyway? You beat people up, then you get stronger, or the more you use it, the more powerful you get?"

Frizz read the note. (Another sex trafficking ring and a call center?) He mused, confused.

"A call center?"

"Yep, full of credit card and investment scammers," Weng replied, noticing the conflicted expression of his younger brother.

"I know a former schoolmate and varsity teammate who used to work there. They told me that all they do is scam foreigners for their money, especially the elderly."

"They may not seem like criminals, but I can guarantee you, they operate like one." Weng asserted.

"They earn roughly a million pesos a month. From scamming alone."

Weng lightly smacked the shoulder of his younger brother, Frizz. "Not every criminal is violent, sometimes they have a full smile and a polite demeanor."

"My suggestion? Go to them first and do what you do best."

One and a half hours later...

After some time of commuting. Frizz arrived at the destination, looking upwards at the huge building in front of him. He was in a different city now. Bavao City.

A city more different and developed than the one he currently lives in. The streets were relatively clean, free of trash and other debris, while the buildings were positively uniformed.

No long stretches of electric wires obstructed the clear sky.

"Bindog Street. InfiniWorks."

Frizz read the note that his brother had given him. (I wonder how it feels to smash a computer...)

"Alright, let's get this over with and test my new talent." Frizz declared, wearing a gray mask and with new second-hand clothes that he bought at a shop.

Frizz entered the building and a brightly smiling receptionist greeted him.

"Hello, welcome to InfiniWorks. Do you have an appointment here, sir?"

"I-uh, passed a resume."

"Thank you for your application. We are glad to hear that you're interested in our part-time offers."

"I have to ask, ma'am, how long have you worked for InfiniWorks? What should I expect?"

perk is active.

"Oh, I've worked as an agent for four years but I am now handling the reception. The work is enjoyable and there are a lot of benefits, not to mention the fair and reasonable pay with no delays whatsoever!"

The receptionist beamed a warm smile while Frizz exhaustively exhaled, accepting what he must do.

"So you've been scamming for four years? Possibly in the hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars? Enough to land you this cushy job at the reception?"

The sudden change in Frizz's demeanor and tone caused the receptionist to pause, stunned by the sudden accusation. There was a slight stutter.

"P-pardon?" The receptionist asked as a fist struck her face. *Thwack!*

(Feels weird knocking out a woman, and that new talent is working. I feel... better.) Frizz mused, heading to the elevator and pressing the first floor button.

*Ding!*

The first floor was empty and dim. There were several doors, but no signs of any activity.

(This place is disguised as a call center. Whichever floor is the loudest, that must be it.) He thought, pressing the second-floor button.

*Ding!*

The second floor was the same.

*Ding!*

As the elevator doors opened, the loud, unmistakable trilling of devices and friendly voices met him. This was the floor of operations.

The scammer's den. (I wonder if they take gift cards...)

(Would be nice to see their reactions if I redeem it.) Frizz mused, remembering a viral meme.

A small red glint caught his eye. It was the surveillance camera in the elevator. He reached and crushed it with his bare hand. *Fzzt!*

He produced two baseball bats from his new spatial inventory perk and cracked his neck. Ready for the destruction he was about to commence.

(Even if they were to call the police. I imagine that it'd be rather restrained, considering that everything here is illegal.)

Frizz walked out of the elevator, entering the busy floor. The chubby, bearded manager saw him and hurriedly approached, questioning him.

"Excuse me, who are you?" The manager irritatingly asked, keeping a distance, wary of the dual-wielding trespasser.

Frizz paused. "I am New Name, nice to meet you." He answered, prodding the manager in the belly with the baseball bat.

"Oof!" The manager collapsed, kneeling and collapsing.

Frizz then smashed the nearest computer monitor, shocking an agent who was using it. "W-what!?"

The whole room turned silent, spotting the masked trespasser with two baseball bats.

Frizz smiled behind the mask and proceeded to demolish everything, with each hit completely obliterating the monitors and chassis.

*Bang!* *Fzzt!* *Fzoom!* *Thack!* *Bzzkt!*

The entire floor screamed in panic as several agents rushed towards the stairs and the elevator. Several brave agents rushed at Frizz, trying to restrain him.

*Thwack!* *Thwack!* *Thwack!* *Thwack!* *Thwack!* *Thwack!*

No match, each of them was dispatched with one strike. They all crumpled from the pain, some had difficulty breathing.

Frizz made sure to hold back since this time, his opponents were non-combatants. Most of them were unathletic and physically unimpressive.

Three minutes later...

All devices on the floor was destroyed. Frizz made sure to destroy the everything but a part of him knows that some of the important files are saved to the digital cloud.

"Ah, well, this will set them back at least."

A soft whimper behind him caught his attention. It was a young woman, no older than he. A sigh escaped him. (So young and already stealing tens of thousands of dollars.)

Frizz was about to stomp her legs until. "Please! I am new! I just got hired yesterday!"

(Hmmm. I guess she deserves some mercy.)

"Did you know that this was a scamming agency?"

The young woman hesitated, then nodded.

"Why even work here?"

The young woman cried. "I needed the money. Please don't hurt me."
