I didn't say anything, letting the silence drag on. It felt heavier than all the words we had exchanged.
Kieran stood before me, unmoving. His gaze met mine, his eyes projecting his sincerity at what he just explained to me. Both of his cheeks was reddened from the slap and I winced inwardly at the sight.
It must have hurt him so bad if I could still feel the sting in my hand. It was a reminder of rash I had been, how hurtful the pictures had made me.
And now, with his explanation hanging between us, I seriously considered the thought that maybe I had gotten too angry.
Or maybe I had not. My feelings were mixed, and I honestly didn't know which side to take.
I wanted him to leave, to walk out the door and never come back. To show me, once and for all, that maybe I was right to have believed the worse of him. But my ex husband didn't move. Didn't bat an eyelid. Not even a flinch.
