Marcus became a regular visitor at my bakery. It felt weird at first, seeing him there instead of Noah.
I also wanted to be very wary of him, considering how he intentionally riled Noah up by making him misinterpret our meeting.
But he was fun to be around. He made me laugh constantly with his funny jokes, and most times, I managed not to think about Noah and his ex girlfriend together in his office, looking intimate as hell.
Marcus also became my number one taster. He ate each and every one of whatever I baked, sampling the new ones and giving me extensive feedback.
It was nice. It was fun. And even though I saw how much he liked me in his eyes, I wasn't sure if I liked him that way yet.
"Are you sure you don't want me to drop you off?" he asked as we closed up.
I smiled and shook my head at him. We have had this conversation so many times that it was almost as though we were reading from a script.
