The moment my eyes fluttered open and landed on my wife, was the exact moment I knew something was wrong.
Ciara was staring at me with blatant horror on her face. Her eyes were widened, and her left hand curled around her cell phone, gripping it so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
She was trembling all over too, and somehow, I knew, even without her saying anything, that the universe had already decided to test us one more time.
Dread filled my stomach, and I sat up.
"What happened, Ciara?" I asked, keeping my voice low and very gentle.
A sob caught in her throat, and her eyes flickered to my legs before she looked up at me again.
Very slowly, I glanced down to see what she was looking at, and my eyes fell on my very naked body.
The sheets was rumpled and almost pulled away from my body, indicating that someone had lifted the covers off me while I was sleeping.
