"I met your father when I turned thirteen. He was the new boy that lived in the house at the end of my street. The house every parent warned their child not to get close to, because the people that lived there had shady dealings. Well of course, it just made some of us want to pass by anyway," she laughed.
"I can imagine." He bobbed his head.
"No you can't. I froze the first time I saw your father. Two boys were harassing my friend, who was also a boy, and he intervened. He was the coolest fifteen year old I had ever seen, and I instantly fell in love. Not that I knew what love was," she giggled shyly.
Ares' heart tripled, suddenly seeing his mother in a different light.
"He made the boys apologize to my friend, and then even asked them to escort him back home. I was about to leave too, when he pulled out a cigarette, and began to smoke. At that moment, I suddenly had a story to tell my best friend."
"So it was love at first sight?" Ares asked.
