Chapter 144 - A New Path**

A week had passed, and Maryam was slowly adjusting to life with Ayesha's family. She had started to feel at home, but deep inside, she knew she needed to find her own place and work toward independence. One evening, after dinner, Maryam and Ayesha sat together in the kitchen, finishing up the day's chores. Ayesha was washing the dishes while Maryam dried them and placed them neatly in the cabinets.

Maryam took a deep breath before speaking. "Ayesha, I need to talk to you about something."

Ayesha, still scrubbing a plate, glanced at her with a smile. "Of course, Maryam. What's on your mind?"

Maryam hesitated for a moment, then said, "I've been thinking… I need to find a place of my own and start looking for a job."

Ayesha stopped washing the dishes and turned to her, eyebrows raised. "Why? Are you not comfortable here?"

Maryam quickly shook her head. "No, it's not that. You and your family have been wonderful to me. I just feel like I shouldn't be a burden. I want to start my own life now, earn for myself, and stand on my own feet."

Ayesha wiped her hands on a dish towel and turned fully toward Maryam. "Maryam, you are not a burden. You're my sister in Islam. We are here for each other. But I understand what you mean. You want to be independent."

Maryam nodded. "Exactly. I appreciate everything, but I feel shy relying on you for everything."

Ayesha thought for a moment, then said, "You don't have to rush. Take your time. But if you're serious about a job, I might have an idea."

Maryam's eyes lit up. "Really? What kind of job?"

"There's an Islamic school near our home. They have a section for new Muslims, helping them learn about the faith. I know the principal there. Maybe she can offer you a position."

Maryam considered it. "That sounds interesting. But what exactly would I do there?"

Ayesha smiled. "You could help with administrative work or even teach beginner classes for those who are new to Islam. You've been through this journey yourself, so you'd be a great mentor for them."

Maryam felt a warmth in her heart. "That actually sounds like something I'd love to do. When can we visit the school?"

Ayesha grinned. "I can call the principal tomorrow and arrange a meeting."

Maryam let out a relieved sigh. "That would be amazing. Thank you, Ayesha."

Ayesha patted her shoulder. "You don't have to thank me. This is what family does."

The two women continued their conversation late into the night, discussing Maryam's future, her goals, and the journey ahead. Maryam knew there were still challenges ahead, but for the first time in a long while, she felt a sense of direction. A new beginning was waiting for her, and she was ready to embrace it.
