The particles vanished and Lenora's vision returned to normal.
Assuming whatever she was seeing could be called normal.
Bits of broken glass floated about. A carriage lay on its side, splinters everywhere. One wheel kept spinning.
"Aah!" A sudden scream originated from just behind.
Lenora sighed. She'd read about countless scenes like this; cliche. It's just… instead of the scream being feminine, it was a masculine one. "Save him, I guess?" she mumbled.
"I suppose," Drifus said, his hands glowing in a light show. Even during the day, he glowed so much the light was visible. "Luminance." He proceeded to glow even brighter and nearly blinded Lenora.
At least warn me, you moron… Yet she had a rather odd smile. After all, Drifus was using magic he wasn't supposed to. The Drifus she knew wasn't keen on improving or learning anything new. He was too proud of his ice magic. Yet this one… this one was already dabbling with holy arts.
