A pitch-black thundercloud formed above the villa. Seeing the sky suddenly darken, Fu Lin looked up, only to witness a bolt of lightning striking straight down toward him.
It all happened too fast. Caught off guard, Fu Lin was unable to dodge. He took the lightning strike head-on, coughing up black smoke as he fell backward with a loud crash.
The lightning in the Herrscher of Thunder's eyes faded. She moved from the bed to where Fu Lin had fallen.
Looking at Fu Lin, sprawled out in a large X-shape, the Herrscher of Thunder knelt beside his head, gazing into his confused and bewildered eyes. She smiled slightly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, and whispered,
"Uncle, you're all burnt. You're not going to die, are you?" I won't let you go that easily. Not until I drain every last bit of your strength.
Fu Lin's mouth twitched at her words. Trembling, he raised a hand and pointed outside at the clear blue sky. The dark cloud from earlier was nowhere to be seen. He muttered,
"It was a sunny day... Where did that thundercloud come from? And why did it only strike me?"
The Herrscher of Thunder's eyes gleamed slightly. She held Fu Lin's raised hand and lowered her head, locking eyes with him, her expression pure and innocent.
"Yeah, there weren't even any clouds in the sky. Where did the lightning come from? So strange, Uncle."
"Uncle, do you often make false oaths? Maybe the heavens couldn't stand it anymore, so it decided to strike you down?"
