The rumbling of an active engine sounded, causing a 4-meter-tall blue-eyed, black-skinned kangaroo to look towards the sound.
A moment later, its head exploded as a loud gunshot sounded.
As it collapsed to the ground, Reed passed six meters from its position.
'I'm bored.'
There was almost nothing of interest to do as he rode his bike for hours on end.
The only thing that brought him some entertainment was the chases, when some weaker creatures tried to catch up to him, but even those got boring by the seventh time.
Any uninteresting creatures that could get in his way were dealt with before they could even take action.
Reed had taken some breaks in between, dissecting some creatures who seemed interesting, but he didn't really gain anything from those, aside from some information on the inner workings of how mana flowed through the body.
He had been riding for almost three hours since his last break, and the sun was well into its descent.
He sighed and looked up.
'Please be okay.'
As he looked down to the horizon, something caught his eye.
He stared at it.
'Is that...'
He squinted his eyes.
'IT'S A HILLLLLL!!!!'
"Finally!"
He accelerated his vehicle to get to it as quickly as he could.
He got to it and rode his bike along a somewhat steep climb to the top of the small hill.
As soon as he got to the top, he jumped off of his motorcycle and took a look around the new area that he found himself in.
He pulled out his shotgun and pointed to the side before pulling the trigger, shooting the two-meter-tall praying mantis that tried to jump at him, without even looking at it.
The new scenery had a small stream running through it, with quite a bit of uneven terrain and small patches of forest.
Reed let out a yell of joy. The empty plains had been good for traveling quickly, but the scenery got boring really fast.
it didn't help that every time he let out a sigh of boredom, the system gave him a prompt, asking if he wanted to give up.
He refilled his tank and made his way down.
In another place, Lyn was having a bit of trouble.
'You're kidding me right?'
Surrounding her current position, there was an entire pride of felines, each of them the size of a horse.
She had been resting on top of a tree when they had walked nearby and smelled her, which had led to this moment.
'Calm down. Calm down.'
Lyn looked around her surroundings, counted them, and tried to make a plan.
'There's 21 of them, all of them seem to be equally physically capable, and they're faster and stronger than me, so melee is out of the question. Also need to watch out for their pounces.'
They seemed to be talking among each other as various growls and purrs sounded, giving Lyn some time to think.
'I need to take them out quickly while keeping a distance.'
Reed had drilled some strategies into her, which were helping her at the moment.
'Some fire should make them hesitant to approach, and wind should be able to cut through them.'
Lyn looked at the other trees around her and prepared to begin her attack.
They seemed to have come to some decision as one of them prepared to pounce.
She looked at it as she brought out a pistol in one hand and held out the other, gathering magic in it.
The lioness leapt at her and got cut in two as a blade constructed from the air itself cleaved it apart.
Lyn had jumped out of the way of the pounce, the bottom of her feet glowing green faintly, and towards the direction where there were fewer enemies.
*Bang!!
*Bang!!
Two others also fell, sporting holes in their heads as Lyn shot them as she flew through the air.
She mentally thanked Reed a thousand times for his devilish training.
As she landed, she moved his hand and let out three more shots.
Then she jumped up as the branch she was on got obliterated by a flying golden sheen.
Two more bullets flew and hit true.
"I guess I'm a prodigy at this!"
She had spoken to Reed with a confident tone when Reed told her about the intensive training he had gone through to be able to hit targets like she had just done.
"That's not it." Reed had shut down that thought very quickly. "It's due to your 'Spirit'."
That sentence had confused her.
"It seems like your observational capacity is lacking." Reed had sounded cold when he said that, much to her frustration.
"Since coming to this world, my memory and learning abilities have increased by such great amounts that calling them super-human wouldn't be farfetched."
He spoke as if he was talking to a child, irritating her.
"The improvement to my 'Spirit' is the reason for that. I'm guessing it's the same for you."
His tone had made her angry at the time, but she had to admit what he said made sense.
After all, she knew that she wasn't the brightest.
A fireball flew from her hand and met an abdomen covered by golden fur.
She jumped back to dodge another pounce, shooting the feline three times in the side as she did so.
Lyn jumped seven meters into the air to get out of the encirclement she was in, landing on a branch.
She immediately switched positions to go even higher, shooting every time she saw the opportunity to do so.
A minute later, she landed back on the ground, looking at the last remaining jungle cat, as it growled from its position on the ground.
One of its legs had been removed from its body, and it had a very bloody opening in its side.
Lyn put it out of its misery with a quick shot to its head.
She walked away from the corpses and pulled out a small tube filled with green liquid.
She opened the tube and emptied its contents into her mouth, drinking it in a single gulp.
She crushed the tube and tossed it aside as she jogged to get away from the battlefield.
The sun was a little above the horizon when Reed noticed something out of the ordinary.
He pulled out a telescope to get a better look.
'Are those ruins?'
He got closer to get a better look.
'They are indeed.'
As he looked at the crumbled buildings something caught his attention.
He looked at it for a moment.
[Guard golem] [Tier 5]
[Threat level: Very High]
[It seems to possess a great amount of long-range weaponry]
Reed looked at the four-armed. three-meter-tall, metal creature in silence for a few moments before coming to a decision.
A small appeared on his face as he gained some high ground about two hundred meters from the wandering golem.
Reed raised a small platform and lay down on it, propping himself up on his elbows.
As he looked at the golem a large object appeared.
It had a large barrel, almost the size of an adult man's fist and a little more than a meter long. It was gray in color, and its entire body was almost two meters long.
Reed put his eye on the scope and watched the golem walk.
He put his finger on the trigger and waited for it to stop moving.
The golem's foot kicked a rock, causing it to fly away. It stopped and looked at the rock as it bounced over the paved road.
Reed pressed the trigger.
