Emotions had made people, including himself, feel fear and wary. He knew deep down that if he selfishly kept the man he loved by his side, it would only cause him more pain and ultimately cost him his life. This was not love but a form of selfishness, a scenario that must not be allowed to happen.
The man he loved was now so outstanding and possessed unparalleled rights, all of which he had earned with his own strength.
He absolutely would not allow this man to give up everything for him. Emotions, frankly, could serve as a solace in ordinary times but not now.
He could only say that while the two of them were destined to meet, they were not fated to be together. Deep love existed even after so long, yet in the face of reality, it couldn't be so.
Sometimes, cutting off emotional ties was painful, but looking back, the outcome was beautiful because at least both of their names remained intact.
