Byron was the only one who could see the purple tendrils, glowing bright as they snaked around Queen Otrera's body.
If someone else were to see them, he or she would have seen a glowing purple mist all around Byron's body, then three tendrils sprouting from this fog and running to attach to Queen Otrera.
Trying to make sense of it, one's mind would instantly conjure images of an Octopus. It was the closest thing sharing the resemblance.

Byron remembered seeing an octopus being portrayed as some kind of a kink in an anime he watched where the main character was a female samurai with blue eyes, seeking revenge from the four white men whom she suspected one of them was her father.
Or perhaps he was wrong. Perhaps he was trying to justify how freaky and bizarre the entire incident looked.
He didn't need to justify it though.
