Lu Fei and Jia Banxian walked along the stone path into the park and soon found a public restroom.
There are many trees in the park.
In the pitch darkness, the two of them carefully identified for quite a while before they found that big pagoda tree.
It is well known that pagoda trees attract yin energy.
However, after observing for a while, apart from the place being rather gloomy, they did not find anything unusual about the pagoda tree.
"There's hardly anyone living around here, where could this little parrot have come from?"
Jia Banxian frowned and looked outside the park.
"Since we're here, let's search the entire park..."
Just as they were talking, the little parrot in the cage suddenly flapped its wings and screamed in terror.
"Help! Help!"
The two were taken aback. Lu Fei said, "It seems that the big fat man wasn't lying, it must be the familiar environment that made the little parrot remember something!"
Jia Banxian hurriedly covered the cage with a black cloth, afraid that the little parrot would be overly frightened.
After chirping a few times, the little parrot finally calmed down.
"From what I can see, the place where the child had an accident must be nearby!" Lu Fei thought for a moment and said, "Why don't we carry the cage and search? The place where the little parrot reacts the most is likely to be the spot!"
"But I'm worried about scaring this little thing..."
Jia Banxian, feeling sorry for the little parrot, hesitated for a long time and sighed helplessly, "I'll cast a divination then! Our lives as mediums are fragile, the more we pry into heavenly secrets, the quicker we will go."
"It is already quite a miracle that I have lived to this age. I originally planned to stop walking the shadows and casting divinations so I could enjoy my old age in peace."
"But how can I be at peace if this matter is not resolved?"
After saying this, he reached into the cage and gently plucked a feather from the little parrot.
Then he let Lu Fei hold the cage while he held the green feather in his hand, muttering incantations.
After finishing, he opened his palm.
The feather slowly drifted down.
Jia Banxian squatted down, squinting his eyes and observing for a while, with a grave expression.
"This divination is very ominous, but there is good fortune within the misfortune; the ominous sign is in the southwest!"
Then, he looked up towards the southwest.
There was the abandoned half-finished building outside the park.
"This little bird must have flown from over there. We need to hurry over."
He picked up the feather and put it in his pocket.
Without much talk, they immediately set off.
But before they had taken a few steps, the small black dog suddenly stopped, staring straight in one direction, its back slowly arching, and emitting a low growl.
"Is there something?"
The two were startled and quickly stopped, looking in that direction.
It was the children's play area.
The originally colorful playground equipment, like abandoned toys, lay gray and dusty in the darkness.
There was no wind.
Yet a swing creaked and swayed in the night.
"Giggle!"
Faintly, there was also the eerie laughter of children.
"Could it be a child who was lost here before?"
Lu Fei and Jia Banxian exchanged a glance.
"Let's go take a look. If it's true, we'll perform an exorcism for them. It would also be a good deed," said Jia Banxian.
"Okay."
The two of them, along with the small black dog, cautiously approached the swing.
They shone their flashlight over.
To their astonishment, they saw a small figure sitting on the swing.
"Is it alive or dead?"
Both of them were quite startled. As they got closer, they realized that the child was just a plastic doll.
The style of the doll looked very outdated, wearing red suspenders, and its tiny figure swayed back and forth with the swing.
The toy doll itself was nothing special, but in this environment, it looked particularly eerie.
"There's something strange!"
No one usually comes to this park. Why would there be a doll left on the swing for no reason?
The two of them cautiously approached the doll, intending to get a better look.
Creak!
The swing suddenly stopped, and the doll fell to the ground with a thud.
When they looked again, there was nothing on the ground; the doll had vanished into thin air.
"It ran away?"
The two of them were in a state of shock and uncertainty.
Creak, creak!
Not far away, the rocking horse began to move by itself. The plastic doll was now riding on the rocking horse, and the clear, intermittent giggles of a child could be heard.
The little black dog stared intently at the doll, on high alert.
"It's a little ghost!" Lu Fei pulled out his ghost-whipping whip, "I'll go and try. If it's not too much trouble, I'll take care of it. If it is troublesome, we'll stick to our original plan and first find the owner of the little parrot."
"Okay, be careful."
Jia Banxian nodded.
The two of them walked towards the swaying carousel.
But as they were about to get close, the plastic doll disappeared again, and in the next moment, a small figure emerged under the roller coaster.
The small arms lifted up, waving back and forth, seemingly beckoning to Lu Fei.
"Is it trying to lead us somewhere?"
The two of them played along, following the plastic doll deeper into the park.
Finally, the doll stopped by a well, its stiff plastic face with a smile, as if it was grinning at the two of them.
"Why would there be a well in the park?"
Both of them felt very strange. As they cautiously approached, the doll did not run away but sat quietly on the edge of the well, one hand placed on its chest.
With the other hand, he pointed into the well.
Then, his body tilted, and he fell into the well.
"What's going on? It wants to tell us there's something in the well?"
Lu Fei and Jia Baxian were greatly surprised. They quickly walked to the edge of the well and shone their flashlight downward.
The well walls were covered with moss, and it was so dark inside that they couldn't see how deep it was.
"There's no moisture; this is a dry well... Hey, Baxian, look, isn't there something carved on the well wall?"
"It seems so. Shine the light down a bit more..."
The two stretched their necks, straining to see the words on the well wall.
"Woof!"
Just then, the small black dog suddenly let out a loud bark.
Immediately, Lu Fei felt a cold hand push him hard on the back.
The force was so great.
He grabbed the edge of the well with both hands, preventing himself from falling in.
Though he reacted in time, Jia Banxian wasn't so fortunate. He lost control and tumbled into the well. Fortunately, Lu Fei acted quickly, grabbing Jia Banxian's legs and pulling him out with all his might.
Jia Banxian, normally thin and bony, suddenly became extremely heavy. Lu Fei felt as if there was a force below, struggling against him.
"Xiao Hei!"
Lu Fei shouted.
The small black dog jumped up to the edge of the well and started barking loudly down into it.
The loud and powerful barking echoed in the well, and Lu Fei felt the force inside relax suddenly, allowing him to pull Jia Banxian out.
Sitting on the ground, Jia Banxian gasped for breath, holding tightly onto the birdcage.
"Half Immortal, are you alright?"
Lu Fei looked at him with concern.
Jia Buxian was as pale as a sheet, his brows furrowed in anger. "That little brat, he had ill intentions! He deliberately led us here; that's a well of malevolence!"
Lu Fei was startled: "So, someone has died in that well!"
A well of malevolence, also known as a 'well-spirit,' is a place where someone has died violently, leaving behind an unresolved grudge, forming a dangerous and malevolent spirit.
"That's right, I just saw clearly that the well walls are engraved with talismans to suppress evil! There are many issues with this park, and they might not be resolved quickly. It's not wise to stay here tonight; let's go find the original owner of the little parrot first!"
Jia Buxian pulled back the black cloth a bit to check on the little parrot.
The little parrot huddled in the corner of the cage, its two little eyes looking at him, and suddenly it opened its mouth and shouted.
"Grandpa, run quickly!"
