Chapter 456 - Chapter 456: The Aging Child

"Master Xiang, my son Hao Hao's problem is getting more serious, is the talisman you gave us completely useless?"

The couple, Luo Xingfa and his wife, were full of worry and did not show a pleasant face upon seeing Master Xiang.

"Mr. Luo, your child's problem is not simple, just one spiritual talisman definitely cannot suppress it." Master Xiang explained with a good attitude, "But rest assured, now I have invited Manager Lu from Sinisterium Pawnshop. Together, Manager Lu and I will do our best to solve the problem with your child."

"You couldn't solve it at your age, and bringing in a younger person will work?" asked Mrs. Luo Xingfa, her face full of doubt.

She now deeply suspected that Master Xiang was a fraud.

"Manager Lu's Sinisterium Pawnshop is well-known in Jiang City for specializing in collecting evil objects. Just a little inquiry, and you'll know. The small mirror your child picked up is very likely an evil object, and Manager Lu has never failed in collecting them,"

  Master Xiang spoke sincerely.

"Alright, I will give you one more chance to see if this Sinisterium Pawnshop is as capable as you say." Luo Xingfa politely shook hands with Lu Fei.

"Mr. Luo, where is your child now?"

Lu Fei looked around the living room but did not see the child.

His house is nicely decorated, but it's a mess everywhere, with toys scattered all over the place.

"Hao Hao is sleeping in the room." Luo Xingfa pointed to the bedroom and lowered his voice, "He sleeps during the day and makes a fuss at night; we haven't had a good night's sleep for several nights now."

He has taken several days off work because of his son, and the company is already unhappy about it. If this continues, he might lose his job.

"Mr. Luo, please take us to see the child."

"Please be gentle; if he's woken up during the day, Hao Hao will throw a huge tantrum!"

Luo Xingfa led them into the master bedroom quietly and carefully.

On the double bed, a little boy about five or six years old was curled up under the covers, sound asleep.

Although he had the face of a child, his movements and demeanor gave an odd sense of old age.

Moreover, half of the boy's hair was white.

At first glance, it looked like an old man with gray hair was lying on the bed.

  "So much white hair!"

  Lu Fei was taken aback.

Hair is a reflection of a person's vitality, and for a child's hair to turn this white indicates a severe loss of vitality.

In addition, the child was holding a small mirror in his hand.

The mirror was only palm-sized, with an ancient and rustic design; it was a rare bronze mirror.

No modern person would use a bronze mirror, it was clearly an old object!

"Did the child find this mirror in the graveyard?" Lu Fei examined the mirror for a while, then called the couple aside to ask quietly.

"We're not sure exactly where. After we returned from paying respects at our ancestral graves, one day we saw HaoHao playing with it by chance.

Luo Xingfa furrowed his brows, looking at his sleeping son with heartache, and recounted how they found the mirror.

At first, both of them thought the other had bought it as a toy for their son.

Hao Hao particularly loved this little mirror, giggling happily every time he looked into it, so at first, they didn't pay much attention to it.

They thought their son was just like before, that the novelty of a toy would wear off in a few days.

  But after a week.

They noticed that white hair had grown on Hao Hao's head, and his originally fair and tender face had become wrinkled, as if his skin had sagged.

Worried that their child might be ill, they immediately took him to the hospital for a check-up. However, no major issues were found, and the doctor only said that the child's health was a bit poor, like that of a 50- or 60-year-old, and advised them to pay more attention to his nutrition.

So, they started making all kinds of delicious foods for Hao Hao every day, but the white hair on his head kept increasing.

Luo Xingfa took a deep breath, his eyes filled with fear.

"The most terrifying thing was, one day while I was working in my study, I suddenly heard an old person talking at home."

"I thought someone had come over, but when I went to the living room, there was only Hao Hao playing there, yet the voice of the old person continued!"

"I was startled and hurried over, only to see that Hao Hao's face had transformed into that of an old man!"

"But in the blink of an eye, Hao Hao's face returned to normal. I asked him if he had been speaking just now, but he didn't remember at all."

"It's not just me; my wife has also seen Hao Hao in this state several times."

"So, we started to suspect the mirror that suddenly appeared."

"Hao Hao carries the mirror with him every day and doesn't let us touch it. If anyone tries to take the mirror, he immediately starts crying and banging his head against the wall, which terrifies us so much that we dare not move."

"Once, my wife took the mirror away and hid it while he was asleep."

"Then she went to the kitchen to cook, and after a while, she suddenly felt a chill on her back. When she turned around, she saw Hao Hao standing behind her silently, holding a fruit knife."

"At that moment, Hao Hao's eyes were especially unfamiliar and terrifying, not the kind of look a child should have. In that instant, my wife felt that Hao Hao really wanted to kill her!"

"My wife was terrified and had no choice but to return the mirror to Hao Hao."

Both of us are well-educated people, and we didn't initially think about supernatural causes."

But after such a terrifying experience, we had no choice but to accept reality and started asking around for help, eventually finding Master Xiang."

"The child has a heavy yin aura, and a young child's soul is inherently unstable. Improper handling could harm the child. Therefore, my idea is to first use spirit talismans to suppress the yin aura and then find out the cause and come up with a solution."

  Xiang Daoshi explained.

"I didn't expect that the child's condition would worsen day by day, which also indicates that what the child has encountered is not an ordinary malign entity!"

Lu Fei nodded: "Xiang Daoshi's approach is correct. The more powerful the evil spirit, the stronger its resistance during the handling. If the child's soul is injured, it will be a lifelong issue."

"So, Manager Lu of Sinisterium Pawnshop, is my child's problem due to that mirror?" Luo Xingfa was still half-believing and half-doubting.

"Of course it's related to the mirror; there's no doubt about that!" Lu Fei gave a definite response, "But what exactly is that mirror, and why it's harming Haohao, we still need more clues."

"Aren't you a specialist in collecting malign entities? Can't you just take the mirror away directly?" Luo Xingfa asked anxiously.

"I can certainly take it away directly, but your child's life might not be saved." Lu Fei looked at them seriously.

  "What?"

Luo Xingfa and his wife stared at him in disbelief, their eyes wide open.

"Mirrors are evil objects. Wouldn't removing the mirror solve the problem? Why would HaoHao lose his life instead?"

"Don't you believe me? Watch this."

Lu Fei took out his Eight Trigrams mirror and shone it on the child's face.

In the mirror, the child's face was full of wrinkles and age spots, with white hair, resembling an elderly person on the brink of death.

"This is the child's true appearance at this moment!"

"If my guess is correct, most of the child's yang energy has been absorbed by the mirror. Removing the mirror would be like taking away the child's life, wouldn't it?"
