Ego revealed his true form—he was a living planet. His name meant "self," and he was also known as the Living Planet.
Many years ago, Ego was a member of the Celestials. As he drifted through the universe, he constantly thought and learned. He was highly intelligent, mastering the ability to manipulate molecules and disguising himself as a planet.
Over time, Ego wandered through the cosmos, searching for other intelligent life. But after countless years, he found none like himself. Instead, he grew to despise other sentient beings, believing them to be inferior and unworthy of coexisting in a unified world with him.
Thus, in an attempt to expand his own kind, Ego began experimenting with creating offspring similar to himself. Star-Lord was one of the 580 children he had produced—and the one he valued most.
The transformations of the Living Planet continued. As the group rushed onto the spaceship, they fled in a panic through the apocalyptic scene. The once dreamlike paradise had turned into a barren wasteland. The ground, as if overturned by some great force, was now covered in scarlet soil, resembling volcanic magma.
Alan and the others reached outer space, looking back at the Living Planet. A massive face had appeared on its surface, its eyes glowing with white light, while its entire form twisted in a grotesque manner.
The sight of such an enormous, humanoid-faced planet was as shocking as witnessing the collapse of the universe itself.
Quill gasped for breath, staring at the Living Planet.
"Is this his true form?"
Alan nodded. "Yes. Ego is a planet, and he has been consuming other energy sources across the universe to grow stronger. Sometimes, he absorbs people. Other times, entire asteroids."
Hearing this, Quill's anger flared. He now realized the danger Ego posed to the universe, but more than anything, his hatred stemmed from Ego murdering his mother to serve his own purposes.
Quill clenched his fists. "What do we do now? Alan, can he even be killed in this form?"
Alan hesitated. He wasn't sure if he should answer. After all, Ego was still Quill's father—if he led Quill to commit patricide, wouldn't that make him complicit?
Quill stepped forward, his gaze firm. "Tell me how to kill him. I won't blame anyone, and I won't regret it."
Alan sighed. "Alright. The reason Ego became the Living Planet is that this entire planet is actually a celestial-level armor he created—it's almost indestructible. The only way to kill him completely is to enter the planet's core and destroy his brain at its deepest point."
Everyone looked at each other in shock. This was an almost impossible mission. Sneaking into Ego's brain undetected was already unthinkable, let alone destroying it. In this form, Ego could sense even the smallest disturbance—if a single ant landed on the planet, he would know.
"I'll give it a shot!" Quill refused to leave without a fight. Even if it meant risking his life, he was determined to reach Ego's brain.
Alan stopped him and glanced at the eager faces of the others.
"Going alone is suicide. I can help you. The rest of you stay on the ship and help me distract him."
Quill hesitated. "You've already done too much for me, Emperor. Let me handle this."
Alan chuckled. It seemed they still didn't understand his strength. "What are you talking about? Just watch how I deal with Ego."
With that, he flew out, leaving everyone staring in shock. Outside, Alan spoke into the communicator.
"From now on, let Red Queen control the ship. Quill, get the bomb ready. Once I have Ego's full attention, find a way to get inside his brain."
