Rather than overthinking it, Scott decided to just let things take their course.
He didn't have the energy to worry about whether Stark was planning to report him to the authorities.
He could only hope that, before he managed to return the Wasp suit and destroy the data, everything would remain calm.
As for what came after—that would be up to God.
"Listen, man…"
Scott buried his face in his hands, his tone utterly drained.
Aside from giving some final instructions to Luis and the others, there was no one else he could count on.
"If I really get caught, or if I die during this mission… please don't tell Maggie or Cassie…"
His daughter Cassie was always on his mind.
He just wanted her to grow up safe and happy.
---
The next morning, a restless, sleepless Scott stood outside Dr. Hank Pym's front door.
Just as he raised his hand to knock, he hesitated.
Scott paused, fully aware of how dangerous this mission would be.
_Clunk_—
The door suddenly swung open, startling him.
"Hey, Hope!"
"Come in. You're three minutes later than yesterday. Also…"
Hope stood to the side, holding the door open, eyes fixed on Scott without blinking.
Her intense stare made him feel extremely unsettled.
Scott quickly apologized for being late, and was just about to explain himself when Hope raised her hand and cut him off.
"Not now. Someone's waiting for you. Go on in."
Still confused, Scott walked into Dr. Pym's house.
The moment he stepped inside, his backpack slipped off his shoulder and hit the floor.
He rubbed his eyes in disbelief—
Standing next to Alan was none other than Tony Stark!
Why was _he_ here?
Could it be that Tony had already figured out that Scott had stashed the stolen signal decoy in Dr. Pym's house?
Scott's heart sank.
Had his reckless actions dragged both Alan and Dr. Pym's whole family into this?
"Scott Lang. Heard a lot about you.
But I gotta say—seeing you in person… you don't look so hot," Tony said as he looked Scott up and down.
Seeing Scott not in his Ant-Man suit threw him off a little.
But physically, he seemed solid enough.
No wonder the Emperor himself had personally recommended him.
"W-Wait!"
Scott panicked and rushed up to Tony, a desperate idea forming in his head.
He had to clear things up—this had nothing to do with Dr. Pym, nothing to do with Alan.
He was the one who stole the item.
If someone needed to be arrested, it should be _him_!
"There's something I need to explain—this might—"
He was interrupted again—
But this time, it wasn't Hope. It was Alan.
"Scott, calm down and take a seat.
Tony's here to talk to you."
Alan had immediately picked up on Scott's misunderstanding.
He had no idea what Tony had written in the letter, but not long after he left Dr. Pym's place, he was summoned again to the Avengers' base.
Except for Thor, who was still in Asgard, the rest of the Avengers had unanimously agreed that Scott Lang—the Ant-Man with shrinking and growing powers—should join the team.
Even Captain America had no objections.
In fact, he privately asked Alan about the Winter Soldier.
Alan of course knew where Bucky had gone.
He was about to explain everything when Cap stopped him, saying he didn't want the details.
Just knowing that Bucky was still alive—and that Hydra wouldn't be able to use him again—was enough.
"Scott Lang, it's a pleasure to meet you."
