Sam meticulously and carefully checked the items placed on the shelves. There were quite a few idle goods in the warehouse, but Sam knew exactly what was stored in each spot.
He even started praying in his heart, hoping that Ant-Man hadn't had a chance to take anything from the warehouse.
Even if it were just a single screw, Sam hoped Ant-Man hadn't managed to take it—otherwise, it would be a huge embarrassment.
Not only had he been played by Ant-Man, but something had also been stolen from the Avengers' base warehouse. If Captain America found out, he'd definitely get scolded.
Though he kept praying that not a single item was missing, when he reached a particular shelf, Sam shrugged and let out a long sigh.
"Tony, the original signal lure device is gone..."
"You've done well. Just get someone to fix the warehouse door."
Tony's tone didn't sound angry about the missing signal lure device—in fact, he sounded almost pleased!
Sam, confused, didn't ask further about Tony's feelings. He only needed to call someone over to repair the warehouse door.
"Looks like Emperor didn't screw us over," Tony said enthusiastically as he picked up a pen. He needed to write a letter to Scott himself, officially inviting him to join the Avengers and become one of them.
"When has Emperor ever screwed us over? Don't forget, during the Hydra incident, he helped us out a great deal," Natasha agreed, brushing her hair back.
"True. Without him, stopping the Insight Project wouldn't have been so easy. I just don't get it… why does Dr. Hank have such a big issue with me?"
The moment Tony heard the missing item was the signal lure device, a familiar figure immediately came to mind. Though he had only seen him a few times as a child,
Tony had a deep impression of Hank Pym. He had worked with Tony's father, Howard Stark, as colleagues in S.H.I.E.L.D.
Later, Hank left S.H.I.E.L.D. for personal reasons. Tony easily found all this information but still didn't understand what Hank was trying to do.
"Dr. Hank Pym?" Natasha stared at Tony in confusion. "He's involved in this?"
"Of course. The machine Scott took was something Dr. Hank Pym invented back when he was still with S.H.I.E.L.D. Technically, it's his. If he'd just asked for it, I would've delivered it to him personally."
What baffled Tony was why Hank had Scott steal it instead.
"Dr. Hank doesn't want to see the outbreak of war. Isn't Stark Industries mainly focused on making weapons of war?" Natasha smartly hit the nail on the head, and Tony gave an awkward smile.
Back then, all of Stark Industries' products—even the newly developed ones—were related to war.
At the time, Tony didn't see the problem. He believed as long as it made money, it was fine—no matter what the product was, as long as it didn't interfere with his profits, he was okay with it.
"Thanks for the reminder, Natasha. Looks like I've finally figured out why Dr. Hank dislikes me."
Tony also realized that if it weren't for Emperor acting as a mediator, Scott's infiltration incident would never have been proactively told to him by Alan.
And there's no way Scott would've been introduced into the Avengers either. Maybe Dr. Hank knew all of this.
"You're welcome. I'm always happy to help you face the truth," Natasha glanced at the invitation letter Tony had just finished writing. "Want me to send it for you?"
