Michael was met with immediate force, as the shoulder of someone twice his size struck him dead on.
Pain radiated in his sternum, but he held strong. Performing a swim move of sorts, he maneuvered around the vanguard player with silky blonde hair.
He spotted Gideon moving with pure strength through another vanguard who had recently showed up at the scene.
'That makes four...'
He noted mentally, glancing at the one he had already put on the ground.
It wouldn't be long until the others showed up, and Michael knew that he had to move the ball up field, and quick...
Herra seemed to have regained her stature, and was rushing toward the opening in-between the two Phoenix boys.
Michael threw himself into her path, hoping that he could stop her in time.
Before he knew it, someone had gotten in his way.
A violent thud echoed through the arena, as Michael slammed that same vanguard player to the ground once more.
Blonde streaks of hair scattered through the air, from the sheer force of the attack.
It was clear the Overseer was going to let the battle playout for entertainment purposes, which meant that very few calls were going to be announced.
Meaning, that this fight was only going to end one of two ways.
Michael charged Herra head on...
The air around him grew colder, and he had to put all of his energy into not using his affinity at a time like this.
Before he could finish his next thought, he slammed into The Valkerian Princess, and the ball broke loose.
It began to violently fly through the air, but Michael was preoccupied.
A hand grabbed his helmet, and pulled down with a furious might.
Suddenly, he was half bent over and his vision was clouded with dirt.
A familiar grunt of the Voidborn boy echoed through the trees, and Michael felt a terrible dread crawl over his very being.
Then a frantic yell of someone radiated a newfound hope, only a second later.
The third defender of the Phoenixes had arrived...
Skylar of House Zovarai had arrived.
The entire defense was now here, in order to hold the last line.
Michael let out a low grunt, as he pulled Herra over his shoulder. A loud yelp escaped her lips as he immediately ran toward the skyrocketing ball, only moments after she hit the dirt.
Skylar seemed to read the situation quite well, as he quickly made his way over to Gideon who was in the middle of holding off three members of Skytide's vanguard.
His slick and wild black hair flowed effortlessly through the air, leaking out of the back of his rusted helmet.
He was a year older then most of the Phoenix team, that mainly consisted of first-years; however, that only meant that he had the second most experience on the starting lineup.
Michael soared through the air, feeling the tips of his fingers just barely grace the flaming leather ball.
Just before he could gain possession, he felt it. A terrible, gut wrenching feeling made all of his hope collapse like a bird who had been rid of its wings.
CRASH!
A quick streak of silver caught the corner of his vision, only moments before he could react.
He soared into the ground like a comet.
Every bone in his body ached, and groaned like steel.
"N- No!"
He managed to yell out, just before his body landed with a monstrous explosion of dirt and mud.
Equan Of House Lightning.
"GOAL!"
The Overseer yelled, with a terrible amount of enthusiasm.
Equan cringed, as he stretched his heavily padded arms behind his back.
The score was now one to three, and with only fifteen or so minutes left on the clock, that left very little time for a real comeback.
He glanced down at the lifeless boy with ragged and muddied brown hair, that had streaks of golden blonde hidden beneath the dirt.
Chase would not be waking up anytime soon.
"You put in a good effort..."
Equan muttered.
It was clear that Jack and him were the only attackers left, and with Leo out of the game...
That meant that they were at a horrid disadvantage. Equan sighed, and began to move to his section of the arena.
However, just moments before the ball was supposed to be brought up, he shifted more toward the side that Chase had been supposed to be stationed.
Then he did something quite risky.
He felt the tug of his catalyst, deep within his chest. Feeling the hairs on his arm flair toward the sky, he held his left arm high in the air...
Then he let out a powerful shock that lit up the air around him with a beautiful blue glare.
Sparks flew in every direction, but as long as he wasn't using his Primis for anything that involved the physical part of the game, then there was no point in risking bending the rules.
Just a couple of seconds later a familiar flaming object came into view, soaring through the trees like an enraged phoenix.
A slight grin made its way onto his lips, as he held his hand out.
A sharp pain radiated through his palm, but he held firm. Possession was his, and as far as he could see... None of the vanguard had transitioned back to defense.
Feeling the natural lightning within his body, he shot forward.
Clearing a vast distance nearly instantly, he was of course met with resistance; however, the Skytide defenders were mere turtles compared to the speed of The Prodigy Of House Lightning.
He swerved around trees, catapulted himself off of the trees that were big enough, and even jumped from branch to branch.
No one was going to catch him... Not now.
He shot forward, straight toward the sight of the Skytide goalkeeper.
The air around him sparked with intensity. A feeling of euphoria radiated through his body like raw lightning, and he descended upon the goal of the opposing team.
Equan had always loved the sight of storms. The way thunder and lightning shook the sky like the sight of two gods battling to the death above the human world.
It was truly unfair that until now, he could only watch the sky tear itself apart. But now, he was going to tear the sky apart himself.
The air was like a force of nature, trying its hardest to stop the descending boy.
However, it was no match.
A look of terror grew on the goalkeeper's mud ridden face.
Equan let his arm reach back as he fell.
Then a loud roar of the crowd erupted, and the sight of the goal exploded into several magical fireworks above the shallow cave.
Equan landed on his feet, barely able to keep his balance.
But he had done it, he had made this a one score game.
