With the reputation of the Hoshigakure shinobi in the Land of Bears completely tarnished, Uchiha Tetsuka's takeover of the country's power was surprisingly smooth.
Of course, the citizens of the Land of Bears didn't have high expectations for these so-called "shinobi from the Divine Nation."
After all, shinobi, with their extraordinary powers, had never truly regarded ordinary people as equals.
Still, even with such low expectations, the people of the Land of Bears found the replacement of Hoshigakure to be a cause for celebration.
No matter how bad things got, they couldn't possibly be worse than under the rule of those Hoshigakure shinobi, right?
What they hadn't anticipated, however, was that after taking over, the shinobi of the Divine Nation implemented a policy of benevolence.
Not only were various benefits provided to the citizens, but numerous resources and supplies were also transported in from the Divine Nation.
Most importantly, every citizen of the Land of Bears was given a chakra refinement method and a spiritual training manual.
This news brought immense joy to the people.
Because this meant they now had a chance to become shinobi themselves!
...
Once affairs in the Land of Bears were settled, Uchiha Mirai embarked on his excavation mission.
Uchiha Hikari had been buried somewhere in the Land of Bears. No matter how deep he had to dig, Mirai was determined to unearth him!
Under the guise of construction, Sasori of the Red Sand arrived with an extensive team of workers and heavy machinery.
Under this same pretense, they meticulously scoured the Land of Bears.
It was worth mentioning that ever since Sasori had transformed himself into a human puppet, he no longer required rest.
He worked twenty-four hours a day. Even Mirai, despite having crossed over from Blue Star, couldn't help but marvel at the efficiency.
"A true workhorse," Mirai muttered. "This level of dedication should be promoted!"
...
One year later.
Seated alone in the Daimyo's residence of the Land of Bears, Mirai let out a sigh.
In the past year, he had practically turned the entire country upside down, yet there was still no sign of Uchiha Hikari.
Could the intel have been wrong?
As he frowned in deep thought, Natsuhi entered the room, carrying a tray of food.
As one of the few surviving Hoshigakure shinobi, Natsuhi was immensely grateful for everything Mirai had done for the Land of Bears.
She had never dreamed that one day, the citizens of this nation would live such prosperous lives.
Seeing Mirai lost in thought, Natsuhi gently set the food down and spoke softly.
"Lord Mirai, it's time to eat."
Snapping out of his thoughts, Mirai nodded.
"Got it."
Kneeling beside him, Natsuhi hesitated before asking,
"Lord Mirai, Aang and Sanren are both curious—how is Hokuto doing now?"
"She's doing well."
After dealing with the Hoshigakure shinobi, Mirai had sent Hokuto to the Ninja Academy in Konoha to study alongside Naruto and Sasuke.
The reason? Simple.
She was cute.
Realizing that Mirai wasn't in the mood for small talk, Natsuhi wisely held her tongue.
...
As time passed, Mirai grew increasingly frustrated. Unable to contain his irritation, he flipped his bowl upside down onto the table.
"Uchiha Tetsuka is absolutely useless!"
After all this time, he still hadn't found Uchiha Hikari. Did this guy really have any leadership capabilities?
Just then, an Anbu shinobi wearing a mask rushed into the room.
"Lord Mirai, we have news!"
"We've discovered the location where Uchiha Hikari was sealed—deep within a forest!"
A smile immediately spread across Mirai's face, his earlier frustration vanishing in an instant.
After all this time, they had finally found him!
Mirai picked up the bowl of rice he had overturned and put it back in place.
"Take this meal to Uchiha Tetsuka and tell him he's done well."
Even though it had taken far too long, Mirai had to admit—Tetsuka was at least persistent.
The Anbu nodded sharply. "Understood!"
After confirming the location of Hikari's seal, Mirai vanished from the room in an instant.
...
Deep within a dense forest, inside a concealed cave.
A perimeter had already been secured, ensuring that no one could approach.
Mirai stepped into the cavern, his eyes adjusting to the oppressive darkness. The air was damp and cold, sending an unsettling chill down his spine.
At the very back of the cave stood an iron cage, covered in intricate sealing formulas.
Inside, a young girl lay motionless.
Seeing the traditional Uchiha attire she wore and her black hair, Mirai instantly confirmed her identity.
Without hesitation, he destroyed the seal on the cage.
Moments later, Uchiha Hikari slowly opened her eyes.
The prolonged seal had left her body and mind sluggish.
It took her a while to fully regain consciousness.
As she scanned her surroundings, memories of her imprisonment resurfaced.
"You... saved me?" Her gaze landed on Mirai.
"That's right."
"Come on, let's go."
Mirai extended his hand toward her.
Hikari glanced at it but ignored him, instead staggering to her feet on her own.
"After all this time... I can finally see the outside world again."
Without a word to Mirai, she walked straight toward the cave entrance.
Mirai didn't say anything either. He simply followed behind her in silence.
...
Outside the cave, Hikari closed her eyes as she felt the weak sunlight on her face.
Taking a deep breath, she finally spoke.
"Do you know who I am?"
Mirai nodded. "I do."
"Good." Her voice was cold. "What do you want from me?"
Mirai chuckled lightly. "I don't need anything from you. You should think about what you want to do."
Hikari froze for a moment.
Ever since she had awakened her Mangekyō Sharingan, this was the first time someone had spoken to her like this.
No demands? No expectations?
She had only ever been treated as a tool.
But as memories of her past surfaced, her expression darkened.
"What I want... is to destroy this wretched world."
She turned her piercing gaze to Mirai.
"Are you in?"
Mirai looked at her calmly and shook his head.
"This world belongs to me now. So maybe you should rethink that wish."
Hikari narrowed her eyes at him, her voice chillingly indifferent.
"Save your words for when you actually have the power to stop me."
