The cathedral stood before them like a forgotten relic of war.

Its towering blackened spires stretched high into the swirling violet sky, the once-pristine marble walls now cracked and warped by time and corruption.

Faded stained-glass windows barely clung to the structure, depicting celestial beings whose faces had long since crumbled away.

The heavy double doors, once carved with divine symbols, were now scorched and claw-marked, a twisted mockery of whatever faith once dwelled here.

Inside, the cathedral was no better.

The grand pews lay shattered, their splintered remains scattered across the uneven stone floor.

Massive stone pillars lined the walls, their bases cracked as if something immense had shaken the very foundation.

Patches of violet fire flickered in the corners, casting eerie shadows that stretched unnaturally long.

And at the center of the ruin, they waited.

Two figures stood side by side on the raised platform where an altar might have once been.
