The walk to schist was spent in comfortable silence because frankly, Hans and Greta are tired from walking through the desert underneath the blazing sun while Jaune is still having an existential crisis.
"So.. should we sneak in? Or should we just walk into it like a normal person?" Hans asked Jaune for his opinion while Greta stays silent.
Jaune look at Hans before he motion to Schist with his head. "Lets just walk into it like normal travelers... we need also need to restock our water supply cause the one that is still on my bag is not enough."
Jaune then lead the way but he can hear Greta mumbling about that there is nothing normal with three children traveling Vacuo alone.
Jaune wouldn't argue that she is wrong because frankly, Jaune had a feeling that they would get robbed.. well not that the robbing would be succesful considering that he is here but still.. they look really vulnerable.
Three children traveling through the desert alone.. forget about being robbed, they are prime trafficking victim.
As they walk into Schist, All three of them can feel the stare that they are getting and Hans sees Jaune fixed his hood to cover more of his face and hair because its his most recognizable feature.
Greta meanwhile take over leading the way as they are inside the settlements to find some place to buy bottled waters.
Quite a few minute had passed and Hans is sure that they are lost now because this could be very well the same tree over and over again.
"You sure you know the way Greta?" Hans asked Greta.
"Yeah i'm sure dumbface... just follow me." Greta walked even faster than before and it resulted in Jaune sighing and Hans groaning.
"Come on! We're walking in circle! How about you let me lead the way? It won't hurt anybody!" Hans tried to negotiate with Greta which he should know that it would be a foolish task considering that he had known her for most of his short life.
Greta glance back at him for a few second before she speak the 2 most dreadful words.

"Nuh uh."
"What the fuck do you mean by Nuh Uh?!" Hans raised his hands up in exasperation.
"Come on! I'm tired of walking! So please! I beg! Let me lead the way!" Hans pleaded to Greta and as if the god is on his side, he can see that Greta is about to caved in.
But that is just his exhaustion talking to him because Greta isn't about to cave in. Why? She wanted to be useful on this trip.
She doesn't want to be a deadweight, thats why she take the lead and try to find a place they can buy water in this settlements.
Could they asked for water? No, because it is clear that the settlement had been attacked by grimms with how some of the walls had been ransacked and some of the people is rebuilding them.
They are not in the mood for sharing, and Greta doesn't know if their water supply also got destroyed or not.
"Greta." Greta stopped as she heard Jaune called out to her.
"Yeah?" She look back at Jaune and see him give her a kind smile. "How about Hans go look for water while we go rest by that..." Jaune glance at the tree in which he had counted that they had passed by 7 times now. "By that tree."
"But i-" "i'll tell you more about hunter's things." Jaune cut her off and it instantly shut her up before she smiled and skipped to the tree happily.
"Get us some water Hans!" Greta shouted over to Hans who is palming his face.
"Could you have done that that the whole time?" Hans look at Jaune and sees him smile and let out a chuckled.
"Welk i could asked her to let you lead the way.. but i don't think she would agree with how serious she was with leading us around town." Jaune then pat Hans's Shoulder and give him a smile. "The best i could do was let her get tired first before i redirect her attention to another thing..."
"Wow... how do you even know how to do that? I could never get Greta to listen to me." Hans looked at Jaune with awe in his eyes as if Jaune had commit a miracle right before his eyes.
Jaune's smile froze on his face as he remembered the many time he had to endure being Noir's Playmate whenever she dragged him to wherever she liked. "From... experience..." his body shivered in fear before she shakes his head and let out a sigh.
"Here, why don't you buy us some water to restock our supply? I'll go talk with Greta cause i did kinda promised her that i would talk more about hunter related things." Jaune take of his bag from his back and open it to grab some liens that he thinks would be enough to buy some water.
"Is this enough?" Jaune hand over the liens to Hans in which Hans tilt his head and shake it.
"Nah, it won't be.. water especially after a grimm attack is pretty expensive.. i could but maybe half a liter with what you're giving me even though usually it should be enough to but 2 to 3 liter worths of water." Hans answer made Jaune's eyes widen because damn.. he didn't expect the inflation to be this bad.
With the current money that he intend to give Hans would be enough to buy 5 liters worth of water back in Orleans.. now that he think about it, water price would be pretty expensive.. but not this expensive..
Jaune sigh and grab a few more liens and give it to Hans. "Here, it should be enough water for us to get to the next settlement.. hopefully it won't be as expensive as this place."
Hans nodded and and grab the Liens before he walk away. "I'll be as quick as a nevermore John!"
Jaune let out a tired sigh before he close his bag and walk to Greta who is chilling near the tree.

Damn... i really hoped the Lien would be enough to buy more water than i suspected but shit.. its our bad luck to come here after a grimm attack.
Now where the fuck is the place where i can buy water? Hopefully its not too far away cause i'm already tired from Greta walking us around in a hige circle.
I pick a random direction and start to walk that way.
If only the people here are not shitty, i would had asked for direction but if i did.. they would know that i'm not from around this settlement and either tried to rob me or scam me, either way i don't like those option.
So going solo it is.
I continue to walk for a while before i look at what could be a tent that sell some water bottle and look at the price on the sign.
"5 lien a litter? Holy shit.. that is expensive.. i thought it would be 4 lien or even 3... thank god John gave me extra." I let out a breath of relief because shit, i know that water is some precious stuff.. but this is plain as day legal robbery.
I would try and buy at another place, but shit, this is the only water station i could buy.
I quickly jogged to the front of the counter and look at the grizzled seller.
"I ain't giving out freebie kid, fuck off." The seller told me.
This damn fucker.. i may look like a stray but shit, don't fucking tell me to fuck off.
I really want to do something to him but i stopped myself cause starting a problem is the last thing i want to do in my situation.
"I'm here to BUY 2 liter of water." I slam the 10 liens on the counter. "Hurry up! I got my parents waiting for me!" I lied to him because i can see some of the people near me looking at me like i'm vulnerable street kid.
The grizzled seller look at the liens on the counter before he grab it and pocket it before he crouch under the counter and grab 2 liters of water.
"Here, take it and fuck off somewhere will you?" He hand me the water and i quickly walk away not trying to stay here any longer.
After a few minutes i start to think that maybe i could use a shortcut through an alleyway, it seems like a good idea to me and so i walked through the alleyway.
As i walk through the alley, i heard some voices talking.
not wanting to get caught by what could potentially be some fuckers that think i'm easy prey, i walked as quietly as possible and the closer i got the the voices and more clearer i can hear them.
I then quickly hide behind a crate and squeeze myself inbetween it because shit, i can hear their footsteps coming closer! Not just their voice! Fuck me for thinking its a good idea to take a shortcut! I don't even know if its a shortcut anyway! I was just hoping that i got lucky!
"Heard from one of the other men that a couple of our people got whacked in the head back in khaleed." I wanted to see who is talking but i didn't dare to peek my head from the crates to see who is talking but shit.. what they talking about is far too familiar for my liking.
"You think they found out who fucked our brothers?" Another voice chime in.
"Nah... but our brethren is investigating with the cops there.. it won't take long to found out who did it.. but whoever did it will be in living hell for sure!" The first voice let out a laugh that bring chills to my core cause i think i could easily guess who these fuckers is.
A member of the red cactus... shit.
"Damn.. just how bad is the damage? Not the i mind giving those fucker who think they could mess with as a painful lesson.. but i'm curious about the damage." The 2nd voice asked.
"Well.. from what we got its that... 2 of our men got whacked in the head like i told you before and they are.. dead...." the first voice revealed.
Dead? I don't know if its a good thing or not right now.. on one hand i am happy that those fuckers is dead but on the other hand.. because they are dead, we are fucked.
"Dead? Damn... guess we would have to torture whoever did it then." The 2nd voice chuckled before he continue. "I would bet you 50 lien that whoever did it gonna get our namesake."
"I ain't betting on something i know i would lose if i bet against it." The voices starts to become fainter and fainter as those two red cactus members walk further and further away.
After waiting a few minutes to make sure the close is clear, i squeezed out of my hiding spot and wipe a sweat off my forehead.
"Shit.. we gotta get out of here fast."
