Chapter 206 - Fight for the relic

Golden Fang flinched upon witnessing the fate of one of their most powerful warriors. But he knew that they had no time to waste. He immediately gave the order to charge.

The ground shook as Force of Nature ran towards Dream Avenue's base. Cyclone stared at the wall of determined players beginning to cast her skills.

Braag decided to welcome the enemies kindly. He made the grand sacrifice of ten silver to increase his damage as his launcher bulged. The glowing muzzle emitted steam. A large bomb left his weapon.

Golden Fang noticed the enemy beginning to attack. He frowned in confusion pondering their goal as from his estimations Force of Nature wasn't in attack range yet.

Unfortunately, the young man didn't know that the upgraded wall not only had more HP but also gave a buff to the people on top of it. The increased range caught Force of Nature off guard.

Braag's [Big Berta] landed amidst the enemy warriors, erupting in a mighty explosion of flames and smoke.

Two of the tanks managed to react using their means to reduce the damage against some targets but Braag's power still left them in shock.

The warriors received about 1400 points of damage on average, causing disbelief among Force of Nature. Golden Fang frowned as he stared at Braag.

The dwarf's information was no secret, since he participated in Fortune's videos. But being the recipient of his attacks still caused a lingering fear in people's hearts.

Nevertheless, this single bomb couldn't dampen the guild's spirits. Force of Nature was full of valiant warriors and none of them stopped when faced with a storm.

Force of Nature rushed towards the town under the assault of various ranged attacks. Magic fell on them, continuously chipping away their HP. Luckily, they weren't without their own healers.

Foreseeing the developing dynamic Liam quickly came to a decision. He controlled the ballista, took aim, and fired another heavy bolt.

The messenger of death sailed through the air, the chilling sight falling in Force of Nature's eyes. They watched as the bolt travelled above their heads. Just as the warriors were confused, panic broke out in the backline.

The healers realized that the bolt was aiming for them. They tried to dodge but since flash step hadn't spread yet they were simply too slow. A petite woman was hit by the bolt almost her size, her body directly ejected from the guild war.

Just as everyone thought the horror had ended did they hear a whistling noise accompanied by another bolt coming from the other tower.

This time the warrior seemed to get the hang of it, his attack finding its target, eliminating another healer.

Golden Fang cursed inwardly but their safest option now was to speed up. Finally, they reached the walls but not without losing another healer.

Liam was displeased with the ballistae's cooldown of four seconds. It might've been worth it to spend some more points for a more advanced weapon but now it was too late.

Luckily, he wasn't the only source of damage on their side. As soon as Force of Nature got close to the wall and before they could disperse, Cyclone finished her cast.

"Haha, welcome friends from Force of Nature!"

The guild leader chuckled happily as a vast thundercloud formed above Force of Nature. Lightning intertwined, the air filling with a static which sent everyone's hair standing.

Liam scanned the area affected by Cyclone's [Raining Thunder] when his eyes suddenly lit up.

[Bleary Mirage: Cyclone, you ranked up your ultimate skill!]

[Cyclone: Hehe. Of course, I wasn't idle!]

[Braag: Impressive, guild leader!]

Cyclone grinned reading the congratulations coming from all sides. Liam had mentioned it deliberately to increase the team's motivation.

Although everyone on Dream Avenue's side looked composed, the pressure was understandably enormous when facing over a hundred people with a group of twenty-five.

But opening the fight with two ballistae and now Cyclone's ultimate brought everyone some hope. Dream Avenue watched as the lightning began to rain on Force of Nature, the fierce strikes illuminating the world.

Golden Fang was in the centre of the skill, surrounded by his guild members. With the players standing tightly together every bolt of lightning landed a hit. The young man tensed up as a violent bolt crashed into his head.

[-756!]

Two other warriors were hit as well feeling despair as Cyclone's passive triggered, paralysing them on the spot. Subsequently they were affected by the second part of Cyclone's passive.

Every time lightning struck one of their allies, the static would seek out the paralyzed warriors, dealing additional damage.

The poor warriors were caught in a thunderous hell for a few seconds. Luckily Force of Nature reacted fast enough, dispersing in all directions to escape Cyclone's skill. Yet, the damage she caused was already considerable.

Golden Fang on the other hand wasn't discouraged. Under the continuous attacks form above he ordered his colleagues to form a line and attack the walls.

A race for time began.

Meanwhile in another corner of the battlefield. Silver Blade stared ahead at a ruined wooden building suspended on pillars, probably a storage for corn.

A conspicuous light shone from behind the wood scattered on the ground. Silver Blade couldn't see the hidden object, but she knew that the light must originate from the relic.

The about 150 members of Force of Nature who had suddenly appeared solidified her guess. As soon as Silver Blade's team arrived, they were met with an ambush.

Although this wasn't unexpected, it still brought them unpleasant losses. Thieves managed to get into their backline and if it weren't for Silver Blade preparing beforehand her mages would have suffered terribly.

Final Fend had been placed among the mages. His chainsword whipped through the air, tying an enemy thief. Under the focused fire he was quickly eliminated.

But simultaneously one of their hunters was assaulted by three enemies, dying under a fierce struggle.

[Final Fend: Sis we need to hurry up!]

[Silver Blade: I know!]

Silver Blade gritted her teeth watching the rest of Force of Nature who came from the direction of the relic, rushing towards Silver Blade's group. Before the two sides could clash Silver Blade pulled a scroll out of her inventory.

Earthquake noticed the movement. He let out a roar brimming with energy, ready to defy the heavens, as a magic circle formed above his head.

Suddenly the temperature dropped. Sweat threatened to freeze on Earthquake's skin. The cold air enveloped a large area hindering Force of Nature's movements.

A fierce storm carrying exceedingly sharp icicles erupted from the magic circle. It swiped through Force of Nature, dealing copious amounts of damage.

"Ignore the storm! Fight with me! Go!"

Earthquake's deep voice managed to pierce through the blizzard, animating his guild members. The valiant warriors fought to advance slowly, braving the storm.

When Earthquake managed to leave the area together with the frontline, the guild's tight formation was separated by a huge hole. Looking back, one could see several bodies lying on the floor.

But the warrior couldn't care. With a powerful war cry he rushed towards Dream Avenue.

The tall orc swung his fearsome great sword, its image enough to intimidate some weaker minds. His weapon was enveloped by a red light as he slammed it into the floor. Fissures spread through the ground, delivering a blow to the enemies facing him.

Radiant Shield stood close to Silver Blade. He watched the incoming enemies with a mix of nervousness and anticipation.

Until a while ago he was still just an avid gamer, nowhere close to the top guilds. He was also a fan of powerful warriors like Earthquake, imagining himself facing a demonic army, heroically protecting his friends behind him.

Who would've thought that in no time at all the task of blocking the famous Earthquake would fall on his shoulders.

Radiant Shield mustered his courage. As Earthquake's sword fell for the second time, the tank suddenly jumped forward, his shield blocking the weapon's path.

[Stance -22]

Earthquake clearly knew how to fight. His sword moved at an incredible pace despite its heavy weight, putting enormous pressure on Radiant Shield.

Vigorous eyes stared at the tank as Earthquake showed a bright grin on his orcish face, looking quite brutal.

"Radiant Shield? Haha, I have been looking forward to seeing what you're made of!"

Radiant Shield stabilized his trembling arm, answering with a grim face:

"Come on!"

While the two men got entangled in a fierce clash, Fortune was just done with casting her skill. Silver Blade had ensured her safety preventing others from interrupting the powerful mage.

The gorgeous mage scanned Force of Nature's side, searching for a suitable target.

The earlier blizzard had dispersed the enemy, even managing to claim lives and leaving many warriors wounded.

Fortune spotted a figure donning heavy armor who pressured their opponent despite their low HP.

It's you!

Finding her target the gorgeous woman didn't delay, unleashing her [Arcane Bolts]. Concentrated mana erupted, crossing the battlefield. Since the skill ignored allies, it was extremely difficult to spot, flying at a low altitude.

When the enemy felt the sense of danger it was already too late.
