After knowing who she was and where she had come from, Iris was still straightforward, but she was not as mean or unnecessarily truthful as she had been before. She was kinder, although she still made her thoughts known that Viella was weak and useless.
What changed was that she no longer saw her as competition for Caspian's attention. Having promised up and down that she could keep promises, Viella told her the truth. In fact, she didn't know why she suddenly opened up, like floodgates during the rainy season. But she shared her worries and burdens. And Iris told her she would do everything in her power to help Viella in her journey.
Viella wasn't sure, but Iris might also have said she respected Viella for having gone the long distance. For having the bravery to test her own abilities without stealing or taking Twenty-three's energy to fuel her own. And that if there was any truth in what Marie had said about her stunted powers, Iris would find out for her.
