Dove
"You should have been there!" Rodney bumped my shoulder as we walked together from the bus stop. "I had never been to such a party in my life. Upstairs seemed even better though!"
I raised my eyebrows, "there was an upstairs?"
He nodded eagerly, "that was for the VVIP though. You know the owners and what not but to be honest it didn't feel any different downstairs."
"I'm not a party guy," I chuckled and looked down to my heeled ankle, "I just needed a break after all the chaos. Zahi and I went down to the beach though. We saw the yacht. It was massive! Took up the whole arena."
"And it's like a mall inside. There's so many hallways if it wasn't for the bodyguards I would have still been lost," he laughed, "one day we're going to be at VVIP events."
"We'll own a yacht too," I beamed and threw my arm over his shoulder. He continued telling me all about the party and we entered the office. The work had slowed down a lot since the grand opening and us stitchers were required to come in for a lot less hours.
That meant I had to look for a third job this week since this one paid so well. Yet I knew we were only here with a contract and in a month I wouldn't be stepping foot into B&B once it was over. It was bittersweet but I had gotten a lot of experience here. The fashion world was messy but beautiful and it just drove the fire in me to work harder.
By lunch I decided to treat myself with a sandwich at the new cafe and a smoothie. Steela was raving about the food and it just made me starve. After my pay last week I felt spending a few dollars to treat myself wouldn't hurt.
The line was hectically long but it moved fast. It gave me some time to quickly skim through the menu before I had to order. I ordered an avocado and bacon sandwich with a salad and mango with lime smoothie. I had seen a few people leave the cafe with it and it just looked divine.
"Oh," I frowned when I reached for my back pocket and found my wallet wasn't there. I searched my pockets with slight panic until I remembered it was still in my backpack in the studio. "I forgot my wallet. Would it be alright if I got it quickly?"
The teller looked at me with slight irritation. "I just put through your order."
"Yes I understand but my wallet is upstairs," I held up my ID card so she could see I worked for B&B and truly was going to get it upstairs. "It won't take long. I'll be back within two minutes max."
"I'll have to cancel your order and you'll have to wait in line."
I looked at the line that looked even longer than I arrived. It took me fifteen minutes to get here and I only had lunch for an hour. "Can I quickly call my friend to get it for me then?"
"You're wasting everyone's time," she rolled her eyes. "You don't seem like the type to afford eating here so why don't you stop wasting everyone's time and-"
Before she could finish off her sentence a hand reached out and tapped their bank card against the machine. The payment went through and before I could even see them I could smell them which made my knees weak.
It was him!
The teller looked up in awe and terror as he stepped next to me. Scoffed leather boots, denim jeans and this time a black tank top which showed off his strong biceps, chest and his slender waist. He didn't have a cowboy hat this time but just left his hair bare.
It was cut into a semi long mullet that flopped on his forehead perfectly. He didn't wear sunglasses either and when he cast me a glance I nearly fainted. His eyes were the clearest hazel I had ever seen with beautiful specs of green and even what looked like orange! His long eyelashes made him look gentle but also sinister and with his thick arched eyebrows he looked straight out of a magazine cover.
"Thanks for waiting for me Dove," he grinned and raised his eyebrows, "I told you to leave your wallet, my treat, remember?"
I stared at him as if I was seeing an angel with my bare eyes and with a flushed face I nodded. "Yes," I squeaked before I cleared my throat. "Yes."
He let out a chuckle before he threw his arm over my shoulder to make it look like we were the best of friends. The weight of his arm nearly took my body down. He didn't look like he weighed much but my! The man was a bull.
"Sorry about that. I was running late. Can I have a hazelnut cinnamon latte with extra cream? Soy please. Milk does funny things to my stomach," he patted it and I could see the outline of what looked like eight pack abs.
All of us must have drooled.
She ordered it without a problem and he paid for that too. By the time we went to the pick up point everything was ready.
"I'm so sorry," I apologized as he handed me my sandwich and smoothie. "If you could quickly wait for me I can go get my wallet and refund you. She was being quite unreasonable."
"Don't feel terrible. She was in the wrong. You'd think someone who works here would be friendlier," he shrugged and leaned against the counter with his hip. He towered over everyone including me and I considered myself decently tall. "You'll have to have a drink with me though," he grinned. "I accept payment through quality time."
I gulped and looked up to him through my eyelashes. "I have half an hour before I have to get back to work."
He winked as he led me to a table. "I'll talk fast."
