Chapter 267 - Chapter 267: Justice for Nagato

"Damn, this woman's chest is huge… just like the weight of her sins!"

Obito's eyes narrowed as he thought viciously.

A flicker of panic flashed in Setsuna's eyes.

"Cousin, please spare Mayu-kun! If you have any grievances, take them out on me instead!"

Obito looked down at the pleading Setsuna.

Suddenly, he grinned, the coldness on his face melting away.

"Alright, alright. I was just messing with you."

"If I had truly intended to kill you two, you'd already be dead by now."

He reached out to help Setsuna up, smiling mischievously.

"I've always been clear about my grudges. Though you and I have never seen eye to eye…"

"But since you saved Sakumo's life, I'll spare yours in return."

With Obito's help, Setsuna stood up, looking at him with disbelief, a hint of hidden hope flickering in her eyes.

"Really… cousin?"

Mayu-kun, maybe… I still have a chance to grow old with you…

Obito nodded, his grin growing wider and wider until it nearly reached his ears.

"Hahaha! Of course, it's true."

"But that's just one debt settled. There are still two more to go."

Setsuna's body tensed up instantly.

Obito, however, ignored her and continued speaking at his own pace.

"They say an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. You took one of my teacher's eyes, so I'll take one of yours."

"You tried to use genjutsu to seize my body… I can't take your body, but I can take another eye."

As he spoke, the smile on Obito's face turned icy, like it had been soaked in frost.

"I'll take both of your eyes, and then we'll be even."

"What do you say, Uchiha Setsuna?"

Setsuna was silent for a long time before finally nodding with great difficulty.

"I… am willing to offer both eyes to atone for her sins."

Obito nodded, his voice indifferent.

"Good."

At that moment, he seemed to embody Danzo himself—his hands moved with precision and cruelty, reaching straight for Setsuna's eye sockets.

Blood splattered.

Two crimson Sharingan eyes fell into Obito's palm.

Setsuna gritted her teeth hard, swallowing the cry of pain that threatened to escape.

Blood streamed from her empty eye sockets, trailing down her face.

She bent slightly at the waist, her voice trembling as she spoke.

"Obito… thanks Cousin for sparing my life."

But then, she suddenly felt Obito's hand touch her cheek.

Realizing something in an instant, Setsuna let out a sorrowful smile and closed her now-empty eyes.

So… he never intended to let me go. He just wanted to remove my threat first, and then…

"Setsuna, you should consider yourself lucky," Obito said softly.

Huh? Setsuna was stunned.

"If you had tried to use your dojutsu on me just now, I really would have killed you."

This… isn't what I expected…

But if you're not going to kill me… then why are you touching my face?

Confused, Setsuna opened her eyes—only to see Obito turning to leave.

…Wait! Why can I still see?!

A realization hit Setsuna like a bolt of lightning.

"Cousin… you… you gave me a new pair of eyes?"

Obito glanced back at her but didn't answer directly. Instead, he said indifferently:

"From now on, we're even. You and Mayu have done nothing to harm Konoha…"

"Where you go from here is up to you two."

With that, Obito turned and walked away without looking back.

He still had somewhere else to be.

Watching her cousin's fading silhouette, Setsuna felt a wave of emotions surge in her heart.

Thank you… Cousin.

Plop… plop…

The fish that had jumped out of the vegetable basket earlier was still struggling stubbornly against its fate, flopping wildly on the ground.

Watching it, a thought struck Setsuna.

She crouched down, carefully cupped the fish in both hands, and released it into the nearby stream.

The heavy weight in her heart, one she had carried for so long, finally lifted.

She let out a breath of relief.

Gently wiping the blood from her face, she picked up the vegetable basket again and walked briskly back toward their little home.

She couldn't wait to tell Mayu-kun the good news!

At Setsuna and Mayu's Home

As soon as he saw his wife return, Mayu grinned and asked,

"Setsuna, what are we having for dinner tonight?"

Setsuna's body stiffened.

Only then did she remember… she had just released their main ingredient back into the river.

Feeling guilty, she could only say,

"Uh… let's have stir-fried bamboo shoots tonight!"

Mayu: "???"

Setsuna placed the basket in the kitchen, then turned around and threw her arms around Mayu, giggling.

"Mayu-kun, if you had the chance… would you want to return to Konoha?"

Mayu looked at her, puzzled.

"Why are you suddenly asking that?"

Setsuna shook his arm playfully and said in a sweet voice,

"Oh, just curious! Come on, answer me!"

Scratching his head, Mayu answered honestly,

"Well, of course, going back would be nice… but as long as I'm with you, it doesn't matter where—"

Before he could finish, Setsuna silenced him with a kiss.

"Mayu-kun, let's go back to Konoha."

Mayu: "...Σ(◇) Huh?!"

Amegakure Village

Inside the village leader's office.

A young man suddenly appeared, catching the leader off guard.

"Well, well! It's been a while. What brings you here today?"

"Take a seat and wait for a bit—I'll go call Yahiko and Konan over."

Just as Nagato was about to stand up, Obito grabbed his sleeve.

His expression was slightly serious.

"Nagato, don't call them just yet."

"There's something I need to talk to you about… alone."

Nagato gave him a strange look but nodded, pointing to the chair across from him.

"Alright. Whatever it is, sit down and tell me."

Obito took a seat and pulled a small vial from his cloak, setting it on Nagato's desk.

Inside were two blood-red Sharingan.

Nagato frowned.

"… what is this?"

Obito spun the vial between his fingers and spoke in a low voice.

"These are the eyes of the person who took your Rinnegan."

Nagato's expression darkened.

"You… killed that girl?"

Obito shook his head, hesitating for a moment before answering.

"I took both of her eyes but chose to spare her life."

"If you think I was too lenient, I can go back and finish the job."

Nagato let out a deep sigh.

"No, Obito. Let it end here."

"No matter how justified revenge may seem, it only breeds more hatred. It creates an endless cycle of vengeance."

"She… is just as much a victim as I was. Let it go."
