Chapter 300: Dividing the Fruits (Part 3)

At such a young age, Trunks already had a fiery temper—always ready to fight his brothers at the slightest provocation. Charlotte couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

Quick to anger, but also fiercely protective of his younger siblings. As long as no one provoked him, he was relatively harmless.

"Go ahead and choose! Take your time. And remember, you don't have to eat a Devil Fruit if you don't want to—Dad won't force you," Charlotte said calmly from his seat.

Trunks glanced over the remaining Devil Fruits. Only the Paramecia and Zoan types were left. He didn't even consider the Zoan types and focused entirely on the Paramecia fruits. After examining each one carefully, his eyes settled on the Heat Heat Fruit.

Without hesitation, he picked it up. "Dad! I want this one—the Heat Heat Fruit!" Trunks declared.

Charlotte looked at him and nodded slightly. A hot-tempered kid with a heat-based fruit? Is he going to be the next Oven? Charlotte thought with a hint of amusement.

Once he got the nod from his dad, Trunks started eating the fruit. The Heat Heat Fruit was rather large, so Trunks struggled to finish it, even feeling his stomach swell from the sheer volume.

When he was done, he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. Charlotte couldn't help but be impressed. Though he knew only one bite was necessary to gain the powers, he insisted his kids eat the entire fruit, as there were rumors that incomplete consumption might result in incomplete powers or hinder awakening. Though the truth of this was uncertain, it was better to be safe than sorry.

"How do you feel? Any changes?" Charlotte asked.

Trunks furrowed his brow. "I don't really feel anything, Dad."

Charlotte raised an eyebrow, noticing that Trunks' head was giving off steam, and the surrounding air had grown noticeably warmer. Even the room's temperature had risen abruptly.

Esdeath, noticing the uncomfortable heat, instinctively released a wave of icy cold air, cooling down the room.

"You've already activated your ability unconsciously. Try to suppress the heat!" Charlotte instructed.

Trunks looked confused, unsure how to control it.

"Ah, fruit ability loss of control," Charlotte muttered, rubbing his forehead. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a specially crafted Sea Prism Stone handcuff.

"Good thing I prepared for this. Come here, I'll put this on you," Charlotte said, motioning for Trunks to step forward.

Obediently, Trunks approached, and Charlotte snapped the low-concentration handcuff onto his left wrist. Instantly, Trunks felt his strength drain, and he nearly collapsed.

"You'll be wearing this until you learn to control your power. And remember—keep training your body! Don't get lazy just because you have a fruit ability," Charlotte instructed firmly.

"Yes, Dad..." Trunks replied reluctantly, his face twisted in discomfort as he adjusted to the power drain.

Charlotte just shook his head, knowing that sometimes tough love was necessary.

Next up was Kakarot. The boy walked up with a cool demeanor.

"Pick one!" Charlotte prompted.

Kakarot glanced at the remaining fruits before pointing to an unlabeled Devil Fruit that looked completely unique.

"Dad, can I eat that one?" Kakarot asked confidently.

Charlotte blinked, a bit taken aback. "You want that one? It's unmarked—there's no guarantee it's any good. Are you sure you want to take that risk?"

"Yeah! None of the others feel right to me. I want to gamble on this one!" Kakarot said with determination.

Charlotte looked into his son's eyes, noticing the unwavering resolve. He gave a small nod of approval. "Alright. Just know that if it turns out to be useless, you'll have to live with it."

"I know! If it's trash, that's my own fault. I'll just focus on physical training if it comes to that. But if it's good... then I'll prove it!" Kakarot replied confidently.

Charlotte admired his spirit and handed him the mysterious fruit.

Kakarot took a deep breath and bit into it without hesitation. His face immediately contorted in disgust, but he forced himself to finish the whole thing, throwing the core away afterward.

"So? Any changes? What kind of power do you feel—Zoan, Paramecia, or Logia?" Charlotte asked, keeping a close eye on him.

Kakarot closed his eyes, trying to sense his new abilities. After a moment, he opened them and said, "I'm pretty sure it's a Paramecia. Not a Zoan or Logia. The power feels... strange."

He rubbed his fingers together, and suddenly, a playing card appeared between his fingertips.

"Paramecia - Card Card Fruit!" Kakarot announced, holding up a Spade Q.

Everyone stared in confusion.

"Card Card Fruit? What the hell does that even do?" Caesar muttered.

Smack!

Esdeath slapped the back of Caesar's head. "Don't blurt out nonsense!"

Charlotte, on the other hand, looked intrigued. "Interesting... Card Card Fruit. It doesn't sound particularly powerful, but it might have potential. Developing it will be up to your creativity."

Kakarot didn't seem discouraged. Instead, he stood there, thinking intensely about how he could make use of his new ability.

Charlotte patted his shoulder. "Take your time figuring it out. Sometimes, the most unexpected powers can be the strongest when used creatively."

Kakarot nodded firmly. "I understand, Dad."

The remaining children looked at Kakarot with both confusion and curiosity. No one really understood the potential of his new ability, but Kakarot's confidence made them feel that he would surely find a way to make it work.

"Alright! Next up—Gibetta!" Charlotte called out, moving on to the final child.
