As the boy walks, with the sun setting right next to him, he makes sure to walk slowly and carefully through the tough and painful ground, but he is getting better and faster. at walking through this tough terrain. As he reaches the edge of the crater he was in, he walks through the pointed bouldering crystals and wallks through the path between them. While walking, his axe would accidently keep hitting the crystals as he isn't still properly aware of his dimensions nor distance perception, and because of this, he would let go of of his axe with one hand to seek balance by using the crystals as support. As he finally exits the crater, he sees what looks like an like an asphalt road with the ruined buildings all around it. He follows with his eyes the road and sees that it leads directly to the city, and is relieved to such easy directions to the city. He puts his right foot on the asphalt road and feels that it's slightly more comfortable than the ground he was stepping on previously. He also feels that it's kind of warmer. It's the first time he has felt warmth, and felt like he liked it greatly. As he starts to walk on this road, he starts to focus more on it. It had sand on its edges and white lines that are laying horizontally on it. He kept looking at it more and more, his eyes scanning the road till his eyes landed on the city once more. Now that he looks at it again, he sees it's Intricate and marvellous design that makes him not want to look away. He also for some reason feels a bit of melancholy when looking at it in such a state. Of what beauty it probably held once it wasn't in ruin. Yet, even if that's the case, it's ruin state still has a kind of beauty in a way. One that wasn't of the pain that this city has once felt, but one of how beautiful it looks now. Even in ruin, he still saw the beauty of it.
As the boy continues to walk, he keeps on walking and walking and walking, with the city not looking any closer, but for some reason, this realisation of the huge distance between him and the city doesn't shake him. Like walking this type of distance isn't new to him. He looks at his axe, and the sun's light gets reflected into his eyes and that makes him slightly flinch from it. He instinctively moved away the axe from his eyes, but then curiosity made him pull back the axe and look to see what happened again. When he looked, he saw the sun on it. He didn't understand how could he see the sun on it, even though the sun is right there. He answers himself by telling himself that it's just a reflection, but then he asks what is a reflection, then he answers that the light being reflected off of something. He still doesn't understand. Even though he tries to rationalise it. It still doesn't makes sense how he knows all of this, yet doesn't really also get it at the same time. He looks again at the sun on the axe, but this time he looks closer. He finds something that confused him even more. The sun's reflection looked distorted and flowy, yet the axe is flat and smooth on this area of it. The sun also looks peculiar on it. It's the sun yes, but different in an Indescribable way. He feels the same confusion he had when he saw the words on the back of the axe. This feeling of not knowing is unlike the confusion he is constantly in. It's because right at this moment, he truly doesn't know what is going on. He truly doesn't understand. And he doesn't have any type of subconscious explanation,
This feeling makes him really uncomfortable but then he noticed something with the sun, it's dimmer on the reflection. He snaps his head to look at the sun and finds that it has not only gone dimmer, but also is lower than where it was previously. He is shocked to see such a view, yet it feels familiar beyond belief. Like he has already seen this before countless times. His subconscious tells him that the sun is setting, but that doesn't take away any of the awe he as at the view. There is also a feeling of sadness he has to seeing the sun leave. Why does he feel this way? He knows the sun will come back soon, but something lingers in his heart. Like there is this great pain that is to come on this first moment without the sun, that he doesn't like it at all. Like when this day ends, things will feel heavier on him.
These feelings send a shiver down his spine, not due to the heaviness of what's to come, but he doesn't understand the feeling of worry, so he can't properly process it yet. So accidently this makes his fight or flight senses go on overdrive and he starts to run for the first time as fast as he can towards the city. He didn't really know how far he ran, as after a significant while, he felt like he couldn't breathe. No matter how much air he is pulling in as he runs, he feels like he is suffocating. This makes him panic even more and he can't think straight nor hear his subconscious and all things turn black. When he regains consciousness, he feels dizzy and light headed and keeps letting out graunts of pain. He subconsciously puts his hand on his head, but holding it hurt even more, so without thinking, he pulled his hand away. He slowly opened his eyes and when his vision stopped being blury, he looked down at his body and sees that parts of it turned red, and the redness is expanding in a way. He didn't understand what was going on, but slowly, the red areas start to feel more painful. They also feel like they are... burning. What does it all mean? Why does this hurt so much? When he regains fully proper vision and finally is able to properly see his wounds... Wait... they are called wounds? What are wounds? They are damage done to your body. Not like him knowing this means anything to him at the moment. He sees some sharp looking crystal shards poking in his arm, torso, and leg that had contact with the ground. There were some that impaled his face too. He tried to touch one of them, but it felt really painful, so he quickly pulled his hand away. He tires to get up, but it feels really painful. He lays on the ground for a while, pain all over him and his body. He feels like he want wants to cry, and suddenly tears start to fall from his eyes He didn't understand why this was happening, but in a way, it relieved him from the pain rather than holding it all in by releasing all the pressure inside of him
He tries to get up again, and tries to feel things around him as he can't see through the tears. As he starts to get up, the pain gets worse, with more pangs of pain hitting him at once. He stands back up. He then questioned why he stood back up. Why didn't he just lay there and do nothing or just kept crying. He didn't know nor understand why he wanted to get up, but then remembered about his axe and starts looking for it through his blury vision. He spots it on the side of the road as it probably slid away from him as he fell. He fell? Why? He ignored his on going questioning of himself and walkes towards his axe. He fights through the pain and bends down painfully to grab it so he can continue walking. One of his hands hurts extremely when trying to hold the axe. He doesn't know why, but he just guesses it really just is hurting. He holds his axe only with his right hand that doesn't feel that much pain when holding it. When he starts to walk again, the axe started to flailing around again as it wasn't stable with one hand. He didn't know what to do, so he just ignored it's flailing and just kept moving. As he walke, the axe's handle kept going in random directions and this made him subconsciously moved his head back from how chaotic it was. Eventually, the handle his hip which sent a wave of electricity of pain through his body as it hit directly on a part that was extremely wounded. He winced in pain from that strike, and without thinking moved his other hand on the spot of pain and held it. At first he held it aggressively, but then he made his touch more gentle for the area to not hurt more than it is. That's something new he learned is that you need to be gentle with sensitive things. He also noticed that he stopped crying and even though he still felt pain, he was able to handle it better now and not need to release the pressure inside of him. Instead, he uses that pressure to fight against the pain
The boy knew he can't continue walking like this, so he has the brilliant idea of holding the axe by the handle and not the blade. He tries this idea out and then the axes blade fell towards the ground which forced the boy to hold it up high so it doesn't hit the ground. He tried to walk and finds that it isn't flailing as much as it did with his other hold, so the boy let's out a sigh of success. He continued to walk with the axe flailing slightly with each step. Eventually, the boy stepped on a rock that blended in too well and he couldn't see, so he stepped on it causing him to quickly pull back his foot from the pain. This action causes the axe's head to hit his lower stomach area and it caused the boy to feel a really sharp pain. When he looked at the area of pain, it also was red with the red thing oozing out of it. He also noticed that the axe's head had that red thing right at the point that made contact when he moved the axe away. In his head, he hears the word "Blood" when thinking about the red thing. He dismissed the thought as it didn't matter. Not like he understands it anyway. But the boy knew that he can't hold the axe like this anymore as it hurts more than the other way. He had to keep the head away from him. He is relieved that he held the axe at it's handle near the blade instead of the heavy part when he first held it, as this "Blood" and this pain would have been felt by him back then. He didn't know why he held it like that, and why this orientation felt familiar and that he did it subconsciously, but he is glad that he did. He tries to put his hand as far away from his body as possible by holding out his arm, but then the the pain makes his arm fall. The axe fell on the ground while the boy still held it. He held his arm in pain, but then when thinking about what he saw gave him an idea. What if be dragged it on the ground. He tried his idea out and it worked perfectly. He had to lean backwards a little to keep it away, but it worked like a charm none the less. But it made a lot of noise. Noise... that was a new word for him. As he continued to walk with him dragging his axe, he continued to walk without knowing how much distance he covered, and the city not looking any closer than before. How far is he from the city he wondered.
Suddenly, after a long while of walking, he hears a new kind of noise. He hears "Do you guys hear this?" from the distance. He understands the noise. That confused him as the noise the axe makes is one he doesn't understand, but why can he understand this faint noise that he barely heard when the noise the axe is making is much louder. He understands that the noise from the axe is coming from the axe, but it's a different kind of understanding from the faint noise he just heard. His wondering session ended when he saw for the first time things moving. Three moving objects in the distance. He stood there stunned for a moment as for the first time he has seen things that moved without him moving it. They started to run at him, yet he isn't scared at all from the moving things when they get closer and closer. He can see that they look similar to him with two arms and two legs and a torso. But something was on their torso. Was that the head? They were screaming things like "Get him!" And "Don't let him get way!" and "Shoot him quickly you idiot so he doesn't get away!" He understands their words, but doesn't really heed to it that much mind for a moment. He finally found "People". They were coming to him. Running even. They wanted to get to him and for him to not get away from them. There is a sense of relief that goes through him as he slightly feels a sense of safety. So this is why he was looking for 'People'. Then the third set of words pop into his head. Shoot? What does that mean? A loud bang suddenly fills the area that makes the boy's ears ring. He sees one of the three figures have some smoke coming out of him, or was it something he held that smoked. The boy felt a shock wave go through his whole body. He didn't feel pain from it. but felt his legs getting weak. Things quickly were turning dark and all the boy could think of was. "What was that?" As he falls unconscious.
