Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 The Card Broke

At seven in the morning, Fu Ying just couldn't get up, and it was Nanny Wu who came to wake her up.

"Missy, get up for school, you're going to be late."

Fu Ying intended to snooze for another five minutes, but upon hearing she would be late, she immediately sat up in bed, got dressed, and washed up.

Just as she was about to run downstairs, a thought struck her, and she immediately stopped and looked downstairs.

Her brother and elder brother were already getting ready to go to the fire station.

The two of them walked out shoulder to shoulder.

"Hurry up, you'll be late," Fu Yan checked the time and couldn't help urging.

Fu Ying didn't have time for breakfast.

She grabbed a piece of bread and followed Fu Yan to the car.

She had stayed up too late last night and hadn't finished her bread before she began to nod off again.

Fu Yan stopped the car at the school gate, looked back at the drowsy Fu Ying, and reached out to flick her forehead.

Fu Ying was startled awake, clutching her head and frowning.

"Why are you staring at little brother?" Fu Yan opened the passenger door without a hint of gentlemanly grace to push her out of the car, "You're going to be late; do you want to be punished to stand?"

Fu Ying stumbled a couple of steps before finding her balance. Then Fu Yan threw her backpack down: "You've got three minutes, hope those little short legs of yours move fast enough to make it."

"Little brother, with that temper of yours, can you even find a girlfriend?"

Fu Yan looked smug: "Next time I'll introduce you to a few sister-in-laws?"

"Little brother, I wish you many betrayals," Fu Ying hugged her backpack, said her piece, and turned to run.

"..." Fu Yan was taken aback, unable to react.

To curse him with such vicious words about betrayal, the little brat's so immature.

Thinking back, the quite sensible Fu Ying wouldn't normally be this childish.

.

Fu Ying made it into the classroom with the morning reading bell, and just sat down when the math class representative came over to collect her homework.

Zhou Wei: "Fu Ying, turn in your math homework."

"Homework?"

Fu Ying was stunned momentarily, then looked down to rummage through her backpack; luckily, she had completed it last night.

Zhou Wei held the homework book, looking dumbfounded.

He had casually asked, not expecting that the notorious homework-skipping troublemaker had actually done it.

"What the heck?!" Li Hanyi looked amazed, "The boss actually did the homework herself!"

The henchmen in the front row, and even those in the row before, turned around immediately.

Apparently, the few at the very bottom of the class standings were all former subordinates of Fu Ying.

These henchmen's expressions were as if they had discovered something unbelievable and incredible.

Du Yong: "Holy crap! The boss even turned in her homework; what excuse do I have not to? And to think, I'm third from last because the boss is at the bottom."

Li Hanyi, who was second from last, said: "????"

You're doing homework, fine, but why take a shot at me?

Because of her remarkable act of turning in homework, several henchmen started scrambling to finish theirs, and Zhou Wei had never collected assignments so thoroughly before.

The names previously noted for not submitting homework were all erased.

It was truly unbelievable.

The morning reading session hadn't started and the classroom was filled with the sporadic recitation of passages, with a few people hastily eating breakfast.

Fu Ying opened her textbook and pretended to read.

"Fu Ying, get out here!"

Suddenly, someone shouted from the classroom door.

Fu Ying looked up and glanced towards the door.

A tall, chubby boy was staring right at her.

Fu Ying paused, then remembered he was from Class Six, named Ni Dongming.

Apparently, there was some bad blood with the former Fu Ying.

"Fu Ying, hurry up and come out!"

Seeing Fu Ying not moving, Ni Dongming shouted again, clearly a bit irritable.

"Boss, don't go. Before the summer break, you hit Ni Dongming; he said he'd seek revenge."

The boss is different now; if it were before, Li Hanyi wouldn't have stopped her.

But look at now.

The boss used to never wear such a docile bun; now, she does. She never wore the school uniform; now, she does. She always spoke in a loud voice; now, she's soft-spoken.

Letting the boss go now would probably result in her being beaten to tears.

Fu Ying was scared.

The former Fu Ying was so arrogant and always caused trouble.

Now it became her problem.

The school year had just started for less than a week, and enemies were already knocking at the door.

But she's not that Fu Ying; she doesn't know how to fight.

Several henchmen looked at her with "such cowardice" eyes.

Fu Ying didn't know how to explain to them that she's not actually their boss.

"Wow, Fu Ying, you still wear these little girl things?"

The hair clip in Fu Ying's hair was suddenly taken by Ni Dongming.

"Give me back my hair clip."

Fu Ying immediately stood up to reach for it, but she was too short to even get close.

"Kneel and call me 'Daddy', then I'll give it to you."

Fu Ying's face flushed, and she glared intently at Ni Dongming.

Ni Dongming giggled, his face full of arrogance: "What's the matter? Will you call me 'Daddy', Fu Ying?"

Ni Dongming, accompanied by a few boys, was beginning to disrupt others' studies.

As the class monitor, Wen Tian was indignantly watching Ni Dongming at this moment.

"Ni Dongming, this is Class Five, take your trouble back to Class Six, or else I'll report it to the teacher."

Ni Dongming wasn't a good student and wouldn't be bluffed by Wen Tian, casually saying: "Then go ahead and tell the teacher."

Li Hanyi stood up: "Ni Dongming, it's morning reading; the teacher will be here soon. Whatever beef you have, settle it after school in the grove."

Du Yong: "Yeah, if you've got guts, meet us in the grove behind the school and we'll have a go."

"Alright, see you in the grove, but don't chicken out then."

Ni Dongming arrogantly threw Fu Ying's hair clip to the ground; just as Fu Ying bent to pick it up, Ni Dongming's foot stepped on it.

When Ni Dongming lifted his foot, the little pearl hair clip was already shattered.

All the little white pearls had fallen off.

It was too much.

Fu Ying's eyes reddened, and fury flared within her chest. She reached out and pushed Ni Dongming.

Just then, the teacher Tan Ruonian came in.

"Fu Ying, what are you doing?! Bullying your classmate again?!"

Fu Ying withdrew her hand, feeling a little wronged: "I didn't..."

"Follow me to the office!"

Fu Ying bowed her head and followed Tan Ruonian to the office.

Li Hanyi and Du Yong followed along.

"Explain what's going on?" Tan Ruonian directed his gaze at Ni Dongming, "Which class are you from? Why are you in our class during morning reading?"

Li Hanyi spoke up: "Ni Dongming is from Class Six, and during morning reading, we were all fine until he suddenly came over and snatched the boss's hair clip and even broke it!"

"The boss..." Tan Ruonian looked at Li Hanyi.

"No, no, I mean, it was Fu Ying's hair clip," Li Hanyi in a moment of anger, reverted to their private nickname.

Du Yong: "You can't blame Fu Ying, Li Hanyi and I can both vouch that it was Ni Dongming who broke Fu Ying's hair clip that led her to push him."

Ni Dongming defended himself: "Teacher, it's because your class Fu Ying has hit me before that I came over to Class Five."

"You're a student from Class Six, and coming over to Class Five during morning reading, I'll inform your teacher about that. But this incident isn't Fu Ying's fault; you should repay her for the broken hair clip."

Ni Dongming hung his head, saying nothing.

Tan Ruonian looked up at Fu Ying: "Have your parents come by tomorrow."
