No matter how Catherine tried to explain and even took people to see her empty harp, no one completely believed her; at best they were half-convinced.
The reason was simple, Catherine was known in the Music Academy for being obsessed with music, she often described to the other musicians her mystical experiences while playing, which were filled with all sorts of whimsical embellishments. And now, the more she claimed her harp had become a nightingale, the more people believed this to be just another embellishment, because it was just too preposterous.
Catherine felt dejected that no one believed her story, but at the same time, she was filled with curiosity and anticipation about the foreign woman.
