"You're actually considering it," Megan glared at him. "I thought you were better than that. I thought you were a man of principle, like Daddy, but I see you're not. I—"
"For once would you just shut the fuck up?" Eldon snapped at her. "See, I do know how to swear." He didn't know if her gaping mouth was because of his demand for her silence, or for his choice of words, but at least she'd quit talking.
"I won't take that deal," he told Lucifer. "If it were giving myself up, that'd be one thing. I want all that you offer, but the price is too steep. Is there no other agreement we can come to?"
"I warn you, the price only becomes stiffer," the man said, but at least he started to shrink in size. When Eldon didn't respond by the time he was human height again, the pillar continued, "What you ask of me, just for returning Areth to her former self, is no small thing, Sheldon."
