The day finally came. The day of the audition for 'Red Flames.' And if one looked into it, he or she could see that Wander was in more mental stress than Maevie who was going to do the audition.
Maybe it was because he had seen how much effort the girl had put into this audition and feared that her motivation would be thrown out the window if she failed this audition. And then she would go back to being an entitled princess.
Yes. It was the last thing that he feared the most.
And oblivious to all the mental stress her agent was in, sat Maevie amongst the hundreds who had come to audition for their specific roles. She was observing who could be her possible competitor.
And had already found the two most potential competitors. Jennieve, a new actress who had become popular for her supporting role in an idol drama.
And the other, Kathina Stance. Also, another actress had played many supporting roles in small dramas.
Compared to Maevie, the two had more experience and popularity in the eyes of the people. If the two performed well in their audition, chance of them being selected for the role were pretty high when compared to the rest of the people.
Maevie included. She was confident in her acting skills. She could bet that she had the most experiences in acting different roles in this building. And it was not her skill that would be a problem form getting the role. It was her reputation.
But Maevie planned to impress the judge so much that they would wish to ignore all her past scandals and accept her.
Wander sat beside his artist. The girl seemed to be unfazed by the mocking stares and the hushed whispers around her. The audition held today was for many roles, so the crowd was quite big. And none had seen how much Maevie had improved. So no one was expecting her to actually perform well in the audition.
Especially the judges inside the hall.
"Call for the next person."
The Casting Director called out to the staffs.
"Who's this Maevie Oz?"
The director, Colin Stones, asked seeing the unfamiliar name and the list of unfamiliar works the actress had participated in.
"The cousin of the President of the Sirius Entertainment." The Casting Director, Mr. Bellery replied.
"Ah..." It came to the Director's mind. "The one that was involved in the drug party and drunk drive. She made a mess huge enough for even my old other who's not interested in social media to know about her."
"Why is her name in the list? I thought she would be auditioning for [Phobe]. Not [Soma]."
Mr. Bellery was not happy. He had known that S.E (Sirius Entertainment) had given the script of [Phobe] to her agent. And since S.E was one of the main investors, he was okay with adding her for minor roles.
But the character of [Soma] was very different form that of [Phobe's]. Although the supporting character had little screen time, the character itself was a tough one, which required the actress to dive into multiple complex emptions. And he was sure that Maevie was incapable of pulling that out.
"Do you think she can act?"
The Casting Director was not the only one to worry. Lana, the writer of 'Red Flame', and also the chief screen writer of the drama was one of the judges presents.
"I mean... I've seen some bits and pieces of her acting in shorts that my daughter made me watch. And it was awful."
"However bad her acting maybe, since she's here for audition, just let her do her piece and send her away."
Seeing the two's reaction, Director Stones, who had never seen Maevie's acting just assumed that it must've been bad enough.
"You don't think that S.E will push her into the cast, do you?" Mr. Sang, the executive director of Hudd Media, another major investor remarked.
"Hmm..." Director Stones played with his beard as he replied. "S.E has promised not to interrupt with the casting of the major roles. I think they will not go back on their words."
He was okay with investors putting their own people into the crew. Provided, the actor either had the required skills to carry the role, or they be satisfied with a minor role.
Not long after, a knock came on the door before Maevie entered. The young actress greeted the judges before she was asked.
"Are you sure you want to audition for the role of [Soma]?"
It was the director who asked the question. Maevie immediately understood that they were expecting her to perform bad. But she was not sure to change their minds.
"Yes, Director. I've prepared for [Soma]."
"Hmm..." He nodded then asked is she was ready to perform. To which Maevie nodded.
"Okay then. 3..."
Maevie closed her eyes and calmed down her breath.
"2..."
[Soma] in the 'Red Flame' is a girl from a struggling for who worked three part-time jobs a day to earn her tuition and support her family at the same time. She was so different from Maevie in every section.
"1..."
The scene she chose for the audition could be argued to be the toughest scene for the character. It was the time when [Soma] stood face to face with the serial killer after witnessing his crime the night before. And to make it worse, she knew the man, who was a daily costumer came to check if she had seen him taking care of the mess after the murder last night.
"ACTION!"
Maevie pretended there was someone in front of her. The person in front of her was the middle-aged man who came to night snack stall she worked in regularly after his work.
"As usual, Mr. Ron?"
She paused and waited as thought there was someone who was replying back to her.
"Please take the seat there. I'll bring your meal in a minute."
As the man turned back, the light in her eyes turned dark with fear. Her face went visibly pale as sweat ran down her temple. But as she felt the eyes of the man on her, she collected herself to not give herself away.
Cause the man knew her every behavior in the stall, if she acted abnormally in his presence, he'd easily know that she had seen him drag that body away.
