Commander Cheng prided himself on his ability to read people. He wasn't some god-like being who could decipher a person's intentions at a glance, but he had a knack for picking up on subtle body language.
And right now, Xiao Yun's behavior made him suspect that the young man beside him was telling the truth, or at least, to some extent. Not that he was fully convinced. It was a little too far-fetched for a complete stranger to suddenly appear, armed with all of Xiao Yun's dirty secrets.
Still, if there was evidence, it wouldn't hurt to check. Catching a corrupt guard would earn him recognition, and maybe even a nice bonus. That was always worth considering.
Regardless, the way Xiao Yun reacted only deepened his suspicions. Commander Cheng tightened his grip on the man's arm, his eyes narrowing.
"For both our sakes, don't try anything stupid, Xiao Yun."
