(Ayra's POV)
My heart was pounding.
Not just a little—no, it was thumping so loudly I was sure Darius would hear it the moment I stepped out of the car.
Calm down, Ayra. It's just dinner. Just a business dinner.
Except, it didn't feel like just dinner.
I had been excited all day.
From the moment I woke up, there was a giddy kind of energy bubbling inside me, something warm and unfamiliar.
I wasn't used to feeling this way, and I tried to suppress it, but it was impossible to ignore.
I had felt this nervous energy bubbling inside me.
Excitement, anticipation, and something else I wasn't ready to name. Even my nana had noticed.
"You've been smiling to yourself all morning," she had teased, folding her arms as she watched me pick through my jewelry box.
"If I didn't know better I would think there's a special man in your life."
"It's not any man Nana." I answered and eventually told her about the dinner with Darius and his family.
