"Congratulations, you have reached a scenario where you need an upgrade to pass"
"You have gathered enough point and increased your mind reading capabilities to level five, do you want to use those points to awaken a new mind power, or increase your mind reading capabilities to level six"
Kaikuh became in shock as she thought, "Mind Powers, so does it mean that my ability isn't only to read minds?"
"Right now, reading the beast mind isn't going to be helpful, so I'd pick, awaken a new mind power" Kaikuh thought as her system replied.
"Investing all your points to awaken your new mind power. Mind point invested, remaining 10 points left. New ability in progress, new ability found. New objective, survive a few minutes without the system. Reward, awaken your new power"
"What's all this messages popping up, it's hard to follow up. Wait, did I just hear survive without my ability, no I need to recheck" Kaikuh thought as she saw the message written boldly, "New objective, survive a few minutes without the system"
"How long is that going to take?" Kaikuh thought as she stared at it.
"New objective, survive a few minutes without the system. Note, failure to do this would lead to loss of new powers, points, and no level up. Once the update is complete, the system would inform you about your new powers, good luck"
As Kaikuh saw this, she knew she had no other option plus she needed to win this battle, so she took a deep breath and said, "Fine! But be quick about it"
As Kaikuh said that the beast broke the wall, which scared her as she began running away.
Akari tried holding the beast but the beast body glowed as it began moving really fast which made her to leave the vine and focus on defense.
Akari then saw Kaikuh running away from the wall Makoto created as she shouted, "Makoto!"
"Yeah, I'm already on it" he said as he launched lots of sand arrows and then hit the ground making sand to pup out of the ground like geysers as the beast began doing it.
Akari made vines to come out from the ground trying to capture the beast but their efforts where futile, as the beast dodged every attack.
But this actually helped out as Akari made one of her vines to grab Kaikuh, bringing her towards them as she, Makoto and Kaikuh stayed close to each other.
"Hey, we would need you to use your powers, that way we would know the beast next move and counter it" Makoto said as Kaikuh replied, "I'm sorry but I can't use my abilities right now"
"What do you mean by that?" Makoto asked as she replied, "It's too complicated to talk about but just give me time, once I'm able to use it, I'll inform you"
"Fine, but don't get in our way got it!" Makoto said as she nodded.
"Is she out of magic, or is there another reason for her not using her powers. I shouldn't think much about it, right now my main focus should be how to defeat that thing" Akari thought.
The beast continued attacking as it launched slash marks towards them and sometimes get close to hurt them after using a sonic roar or other attacks.
Akari and Makoto tried defending all its attacks as Kaikuh watched the percentage of her update increase.
They had an intense battle but after a while, Kaikuh system was updated as a message then popped up.
"Update completed, your new power is known as mind control which means that you have the ability to make a living organism do whatever you want"
"This is amazing" Kaikuh thought as she became excited and tried using her abilities.
"What's going on? Why can't I control the beast" Kaikuh thought as she tried using the powers.
A message then popped up saying, "Just like your mind reading abilities, you can't just start from the top, currently your at level on of this ability, which means you have to be in physical contact with the person before you would be able to activate mind control"
"I see, so it's like my mind reading abilities. Level one is physical contact, two is a very small radius and just like that to five, which is focus. But since I'm in level one, I can't just focus my mind control on a particular living thing, which means I have to make physical contact with it before I would be able to control it. But how would I do that when this beast keeps moving around?"
Kaikuh didn't know what to do so she decided to ask the rest so they could come up with a plan, "Do the both of you think you can hold that thing in a place for a long time"
"I'm not sure, but why do you ask?" Akari said as Makoto defended them.
"I have a plan, but it isn't going to work if that beast continues moving about. I need it to be hooked up in a place so I can make contact with it" Kaikuh said as Makoto replied, "That's not going to be a problem, but just make sure you're quick cause I don't think that thing would stay in a place for long."
"No problem" Kaikuh replied as Akari then said, "Makoto I want you to keep that beast busy while I set a trap"
"Already on it" Makoto said as he launched an attack at the beast and created a sand dome which continued shooting sand arrows making the beast to keep its distance.
"Kaikuh you'd be the bait, once that beast comes close to you, I would summon vines to hold it up so make sure you do what you want quickly before it brakes loose, but first, you'll have to think of how to get it to chance only you..." Akari said as Makoto replied, "That's easy, if she just continue saying the beast movement a lot and then move to an open field, the beast would take the bait to attack her making your plan to work"
"That's true, since we got a plan, let's make sure it works out well" Akari said as Makoto smiled and replied, "It's time to defeat this thing" which made everyone excited as they began executing their roles.
Makoto brought down the dome and began fighting the beast head on as Kaikuh began saying what the beast would do since she read its mind, which made the beast pissed off as Akari ran to a different side of the room and took a deep breath, as she began chanting a spell.
The beast continued attacking and thought of killing Akari as she was singled out, which made Kaikuh smile as she thought, "This is my chance, if I isolate myself, it would definitely leave her and come towards me"
Kaikuh ran towards her and shouted, "Watch out, it's heading towards you"
This made both of them to cautious since they knew the beast might head towards her as Makoto moved a pillar of sand towards Akari, which made everyone anxious as they all thought, "Come on beast, take the bait!!!"
As the beast used all it's speed to move towards Kaikuh, Akari placed her hands on the ground and shouted, "Bind!!!" Finishing up the enchantment.
As the beast got close to Kaikuh, vines popped out of the ground and bind it as Kaikuh turned and touched the beast.
The beast mind went blank as it stayed there doing nothing.
As everyone was panting, a message popped up in Kaikuh's front, "You can tell it what to do as long as your in contact with it"
"That's good, let's see if it works out" Kaikuh thought as she said, "You can release the vines now"
"Are you sure, cause that thing can attack you" Akari said as she replied, "Yeah"
Akari looked at Makoto as he nodded his head which made her release the vines.
As she did that, she and Makoto were in high alert as Kaikuh then took a deep breath while thinking, "Here it goes!" and said, "Sit, don't move"
Makoto and Akari where shocked as they saw the beast sat down which made Kaikuh tell them to hop on as she began climbing it.
As she was climbing it, another message popped up saying, "Because of the size of the creature, you have to make contact with it's head since it's closer to its brain, due to the fact that your still in level one."
This made Kaikuh fill a little bit frustrated as she stayed at it's head.
Makoto and Akari where already badly injured so they were weak, but as they climbed the leopard, Makoto said, "Hey, I can sense the surrounding a little as long as I'm in contact with sands and rocks"
Akari looked at him and said, We're going to need that cause we don't have time to be running around aimlessly, plus we need medical care so I'll make sure we're properly attached to the beast while the both of you do your things"
"Sure, that's going to be a big help" Kaikuh said as they all stayed at the leopards head and began moving.
Meanwhile, Koda and Laila just approached a giant door that was opened as they heard a loud noise making them to run and hide.
"What was that?" Laila asked as Koda replied, "I don't know, but we would have to go in to find out"
They both looked at each other not wanting to go, but they later became confident and went in.
They both saw the young man from the adventurers exam fighting a gorilla, but from the looks of it he was losing since he was getting himself off the wall as the gorilla charged at him.
The young man moved away and was panting heavily as he thought, "I can't defeat this beast on my own in my current condition, this exam has already weared me out so what should I do?"
Laila noticed what was going on as she said, "Koda, I need you to distract the beast while I go rescue that man, he needs our help"
"Are you crazy!!! Can you see the size of that beast, I would be dead before I even start fighting" Koda said as Laila replied, "But you have a force field, you can protect yourself from the beast at least until I get him out of here"
"Hell no, I can't do it" Koda said as they argued for a while which made Laila irritated by him as she said, "I don't even know why I trusted you, those guys were right, your a coward and pest, I don't even know why you came to write this exam"
This touched Koda as the girl became invisible and left which made him to be lost in thoughts as the girl tried to save the man.
The beast hit the man towards the wall as it then hit its chest and made a loud noise.
"I think I broke my ribs" the man thought as he tried standing up and felt a sharp pain as he held his ribs region.
The girl got close to the man but before she could even do anything she saw the gorilla lift a big rock as she became paralyzed in fear.
As the gorilla was about to throw the rock towards them, it felt something hit it and as it turned back, it saw Koda looking at it like he was a different guy all of a sudden.
"Hey I'm now your opponent" Koda said as he stood still and then raised his head giving the beast a deadly gaze.
The beast turned towards him and threw the rock at him as Laila and the young man went into despair since the rock buried him as the beast hit its chest.
The beast turned towards them to deal with them but was shocked as the rocks flew away.
Koda stood there with no scratch on him as he said, "Is that all you got, guess you have a lot to learn"
The beast became pissed off by what he said and went towards him as it began hammering his shield causing it to crack.
The girl then went towards the man and became visible as she said, "Hey can you move?"
"Not so much but I'll be fine" the man said as the girl supported him and said, "Let's get out of here"
"What about him, we can't just leave him to fight that beast on his own..."
"I know, I'll come back to get him later, he's just distracting it so you can escape"
"I didn't know the kid was that strong" the young man said as he remembered how pathetic he was.
"Yeah, neither did I" Laila said as she became invisible and thought, "It's like he's a different person. I just hope he can hold out until I get back"
Koda was trying to hang in there as the beast continued hitting his shield until it broke.
The beast then hit him towards the wall as he tried using a mini shield to block the blow, reducing the force of the impact.
But even with all his efforts, Koda was unable to move and bled as he laid on the wall unconscious.
