"That you had everything. And you still acted like you didn't."

She flinched. "That's not true."

"It is." His fists clenched at his sides. "Mom and Dad always put you first. You always got their attention. Everything I had, I had to fight for."

"Fight for?" Her eyes narrowed. "Do you even hear yourself? Do you know how much I—"

She stopped herself, shaking her head. "Forget it."

But he didn't let it go.

"Go on," he pressed, his voice sharp. "Say it. Say what you've always wanted to say."

Cheska bit her lip.

She never wanted to have this fight.

She never wanted to resent him.

But after years of being seen as the villain, of carrying the weight of his misplaced hatred, of pretending it didn't hurt— her patience snapped.

"You think you were the only one who suffered?" she shot back, stepping closer. "You think I had it easy? I never even got to have a normal childhood! I was sick all the time, I couldn't play outside, I couldn't have what you had—"
