Chapter 185: Divine Skills
After Yang Potian had rested for about half an hour, he approached the corpse of the Spatial Bone Dragon to begin absorbing its one-hundred-thousand-year spirit ring. Having already absorbed two spirit rings of this level, he found this process significantly easier than when he had absorbed the Titan Giant Python's ring. After just thirty hours, he completed the absorption, raising his spirit power to level seventy-nine. Within a few months, he would likely reach level eighty.
However, there was a minor drawback. The Spatial Bone Dragon had produced a right leg spirit bone, leaving the trio with mixed feelings.
After a moment of contemplation, Potian gritted his teeth and said, "Second Uncle, Father, I think I should absorb this spirit bone. Absorbing it should push my spirit power beyond level eighty, and we can search for another spirit beast afterward."
Yang Zhentian, his father, looked concerned. "Potian, you've absorbed four one-hundred-thousand-year spirit rings within just a few months. Are you sure your body can handle it?"
Potian nodded. "After absorbing this ring, I can feel my spirit power has deepened. Both of my martial souls are in harmony without any rejection between them. I don't think it will be a problem."
After a lengthy silence, Yang Zhentian finally spoke. "Then go ahead and absorb it, but make sure you're cautious. Don't push yourself too hard. There's still a year before Tianyue has to leave for Sea God Island, so take care of yourself."
Nodding, Potian proceeded to absorb the Spatial Bone Dragon's right leg spirit bone. This time, the process took only about twenty hours. Once the absorption was complete, Potian's spirit power soared to level eighty, possibly even beyond, close to level eighty-one. It would only become apparent once he acquired his next spirit ring.
After Potian finished, Yang Wushuang, his second uncle, suggested, "Let's head back to the Spatial Bone Dragon's lair under the cliff to rest. We're all wounded and not in our best condition. That area is secluded and relatively safe."
Potian and Zhentian agreed, and the three of them rested in the dragon's lair for three full days until they had fully recovered. During their stay, they also searched the lair for any treasures but found nothing. Frustrated, Potian shook his head, mumbling about how lazy the dragon must have been. Weren't dragons supposed to love collecting treasures?
Meanwhile, Potian reviewed the new abilities he had gained from the Spatial Bone Dragon's spirit ring and spirit bone, marveling at its immense potential.
New Spirit Ring Skills:
Spatial Shift: Summons a black hole-like void that redirects enemy attacks. Potian discovered that he could use this to transport objects or even people, as long as they were within the reach of his mental perception. If the Spatial Bone Dragon hadn't been poisoned, this ability alone would have made it nearly impossible to hunt down.
Bone Dragon Guard: Summons a bone dragon to shield against attacks, serving as an exceptional physical defense.
Right Leg Spirit Bone Skills:
Spatial Displacement: A bone skill that allows Potian to instantly switch places with any target detected by his mental power, similar to the effects of the Mysterious Dark Swap but more flexible and with minimal energy cost.
Dragon's Tail Strike: Unleashes a devastating strike as powerful as the Spatial Bone Dragon's tail swipe, making it a formidable finishing move.
With these new abilities, Potian's combat power was vastly enhanced. He now felt confident that he could face off against his father in battle and potentially emerge victorious.
Reflecting on Bone Douluo's reputation as one of the most elusive Titled Douluos, Potian realized that with these new skills, he could become even more unpredictable. His spatial abilities now far surpassed simple teleportation, enabling him to cover far greater distances and avoid detection.
After three days of rest, the trio resumed their search for a new spirit beast. Initially, Potian considered hunting the Dark Evil God Tiger, but after nearly a month in the Star Dou Forest with no sight of the elusive creature, they abandoned the idea.
Their luck soon turned, though. Just three days later, they encountered a remarkable spirit beast—a massive, golden-hued creature that immediately captivated Potian.
Standing over twenty meters tall, the Golden Behemoth was covered in thick golden fur, its entire form radiating immense power. Its tail was as solid as a tree trunk, its muscles were like steel, and its bones as resilient as iron. Even its claws appeared capable of tearing through anything in their path.
The only downside was that it hadn't yet reached one hundred thousand years in cultivation; it was currently around ninety-six thousand years old. They would need to use a Burst Spirit Pill to assist in its evolution.
Yang Wushuang, eyeing the beast with caution, said, "Potian, are you sure you want to target this Golden Behemoth? The Behemoth species is rumored to be able to rival dragons in combat. Its power is comparable to the Titan Giant Ape and the Darkgold Terrorclaw Bear. This particular Golden Behemoth seems to have an extraordinary bloodline, especially judging by those claws—it's approaching the pinnacle of metal affinity."
He continued, "In terms of defense, this Golden Behemoth might even rival the Spatial Bone Dragon, and its attack power could surpass a Titan Giant Ape of the same level. It will be extremely difficult to kill, especially if it breaks through to the one-hundred-thousand-year threshold."
Potian thought for a moment, then said, "Second Uncle, if we use the Eye of Ice and Fire's spring water, we should be able to deal with the Behemoth more effectively."
He produced a jade bottle containing the spring water from the Eye of Ice and Fire.
While it wasn't certain how effective the Eye of Ice and Fire's toxins would be against dragons, it was highly effective against non-dragon spirit beasts—especially those that were natural rivals of dragonkind, such as the Behemoth.
After several days of observation, they confirmed the Golden Behemoth's formidable power. When it faced a thirty-thousand-year Iron Thornback Dragon, it shredded the beast without even using its claws, demonstrating terrifying raw strength.
Potian devised a plan to poison the Behemoth. He concealed two Burst Spirit Pills within a prey animal that the Behemoth liked to hunt, combined with the Eye of Ice and Fire's toxins and other deadly poisons sealed in a jade vial hidden within the creature's body.
Finally, after ingesting the Burst Spirit Pills, the Golden Behemoth's spirit power began to surge, though not as quickly as that of the Blue Silver King Potian had previously encountered. Nonetheless, the Golden Behemoth gradually broke through to the one-hundred-thousand-year level.
Far off in the Star Dou Forest's core, Da Ming the Azure Bull Python, Er Ming the Titan Giant Ape, and Xiao Wu all felt the powerful aura of a newly awakened one-hundred-thousand-year spirit beast. The Azure Bull Python, in particular, sensed the distinct presence of the Golden Behemoth.
Er Ming spoke gravely, "Big Brother, it's the Golden Behemoth. How could it have reached one hundred thousand years so soon?"
Da Ming looked troubled. "Many strange things have happened recently. I can sense that the Spatial Bone Dragon has already fallen. Er Ming, Xiao Wu, stay nearby. I'm concerned that someone may be hunting one-hundred-thousand-year spirit beasts."
Er Ming hesitated. "Should I go check on the Golden Behemoth?"
But Xiao Wu, standing nearby, looked conflicted. The Golden Behemoth was a sworn enemy of Da Ming and Er Ming, after all.
The Azure Bull Python shook its head. "If the Behemoth has truly reached one hundred thousand years, you wouldn't be a match for it. It's safest if you both stay close to me."
As the Golden Behemoth fully transitioned to one hundred thousand years, Yang Wushuang suggested, "Potian, maybe we should strike now while it's still adjusting."
Potian, however, shook his head. "The Golden Behemoth is too powerful. If it hasn't been fully affected by the poison, we could pay a steep price in battle. Let's be patient and wait for it to weaken. We're in no rush."
As Potian had calculated, this Behemoth had nearly reached the pinnacle of metal affinity, and its raw strength likely exceeded Er Ming's, making it an extremely difficult opponent. A more opportune moment would be the best approach.
