Laurent felt guilty seeing that Dave had been waiting for her all this time. She walked over and apologized sincerely.
"Sorry, I accidentally fell asleep."
Dave snapped out of his thoughts, glanced at her, then closed his laptop.
"It's fine. It's the weekend anyway."
Then he asked, "Are you hungry?"
She had been sleeping since morning and had missed lunch.
Now that he mentioned it, Laurent realized she actually was quite hungry. Dave stood up.
"Let's go. Wash up, and we'll head out for a meal. After that, we'll go buy Emma's gift."
Laurent had originally planned to check the fridge and cook something simple for herself, but Dave had already taken charge of the situation before she could say anything. She had no room to argue.
Left with no choice, she went to freshen up, changed her clothes, and got ready. Then the two of them went out, had dinner at a restaurant, and headed to the mall—just like any ordinary couple.
Except they weren't a couple anymore.
