Daniel was first stunned by Bert's obsessive and irresponsible words. Then, anger overwhelmed him, and he clutched his chest, collapsing back into his seat, gasping for air.
It was all his fault. All of it.
His foolishness in his youth had led to all the turmoil and conflict they faced now.
How could he resolve all this resentment and hatred? How could he help them let go of their grudges?
Both of them were his sons. Deep down, he hoped they could get along in peace. He didn't expect them to be like other brothers, always harmonious and respectful, but at the very least, he wished they didn't have to be in such direct opposition.
