The past two weeks had been, in a word, uneventful. After the chaos of that… incident with Maeve, I was fully prepared for the universe to continue its trend of throwing me into bizarre, mortifying situations. Instead, nothing happened. Absolutely nothing.
Classes were normal relatively speaking, given this was a magical academy. No poisoned dishes, no forbidden kisses, and no uncomfortably heated moments.
Just lectures, assignments, and the occasional kitchen mishap that didn't involve life-altering drama.
Even Maeve had been… well, fine. She acted like her usual self, which honestly made me question if she remembered anything from that night. If she did, she was doing an excellent job of pretending otherwise.
But there was this nagging feeling in the back of my mind. A sense that the teachers were up to something. It wasn't anything obvious just little things, like the way they'd exchange glances during class or their cryptic comments about "upcoming events."
