Third Person's POV
"Then you have made a mistake. I am not prey… but your doom."
The skull froze for a moment and its laughter was abruptly cut off as if it was bewildered by the sheer audacity of the prey before it.
But then, a second later, it erupted into laughter once more but it was louder, wilder, and more unhinged than before.
"Brave words, little mortal," it sneered as its voice dripped with malice.
"But your bloodline slumbers. You are nothing more than an empty vessel, waiting to be claimed."
And I… I am the darkness that will devour you."
The dark smoke swirling around the altar began to coalesce and formed shadowy figures that emerged from the caves.
Their eyes glowed with the same malevolent red light and their forms shifted and writhed as if barely held together.
Ethan's mind raced. He couldn't fight them all alone.
But he also couldn't retreat. The skull's energy was too potent and too alluring. His bloodline demanded it.
