But Jason's figure was nowhere to be seen, having vanished without a trace.
"That guy and his temper, I swear. Let's head out now too."

Hugo, who had been walking far ahead, had stopped and turned around, waiting for the two of them.
Soon after, in the elevator descending to the parking lot, Winter spoke carefully.
"Um, I'm really sorry for wandering off on my own earlier. You told me not to do that several times."
"No need to apologize."
"It's fine, Winter. You didn't do anything wrong."
Hugo and Ryan replied simultaneously. Winter, who had been prepared for a harsh scolding, could only blink in confusion.
As the elevator doors opened, Hugo and Ryan walked out and spoke in turn.
"I know you did your best. That means Ryan and I bear all the responsibility."
"That's right. It's our fault for bringing you to a place like this in the first place."
"We won't shift responsibility for the process or results in the future either. So there's no need for such words."
