Trees were falling and screams echoed through a village in one of Yavan's regions—it was Bloomy, and something unusual was happening. The villagers ran around in panic, screaming, while others hid inside their homes. The trees kept falling, this time with scorched leaves, and then the cause of it all became clear: two wyverns were raging high above in the sky.
"Get out of the houses! They'll collapse on you!" Rose shouted loudly, staring at the terrified villagers running in every direction.
Suddenly, one of the wyverns spotted her, and it looked like it had chosen her as its prey. It spread its wings and dove toward her at high speed, opening its terrifying mouth. All it could see was Rose's body inside its jaws—but what it couldn't see was a high-speed water slash rushing into its mouth. The moment the slash hit, all it could do from the pain was retreat and soar back into the sky.
"Laos..." Rose murmured.
"They must have left the nest and attacked," said the white-haired swordsman seriously, watching the wyverns.
"Lady Rose, are you alright?!" Nhor shouted as he arrived with a group of warriors.
"I'm fine... try to kill them quickly before they damage the village!" Rose ordered.
"Can you all move somewhere else? We can't fight in a crowded area," said Laos.
"Yes!" Rose replied.
After that, she evacuated the village along with all its residents. Now only Laos, the dryad warriors, and the wyverns remained. Laos switched his sword to the third form and began launching large spikes. The warriors fired their arrows swiftly. The wyverns sensed danger and started flying erratically, making them almost impossible to hit.
"They're enraged," Nhor muttered.
"Aqua Rains!!" Laos shouted, pointing his blade at them.
Whether they tried to escape or not, it was too late. Sharp, heavy rain fell over a wide area, scratching some of their scales. It seemed to be a clever strategy from Laos to slow their movement. After that, the arrows began to pierce the wyverns who had lost speed.
"Good move, Laos," Nhor said.
He then ran forward with his spear and hurled it high into the air. The spear flew quickly and struck one of the wyverns. Realizing the danger they were in, the wyverns began breathing fire furiously. They landed and started blasting flames at their enemies, but suddenly, one person stepped up to the fire—standing bravely, unmoving, as if ready to burn.
He held his blue-bladed sword and used it to block the wyverns' fire.
It was the Astral Sword, and as far as we could see, the fire had no effect on it—it could stop it. The wyverns' fire evaporated once Laos blocked it with his sword. Nhor then rushed toward them as they stood on the ground and stabbed one of them with his spear. But suddenly, the wounded wyvern spun quickly and hit Nhor's legs with its tail, knocking him down.
The wyvern stopped breathing fire, stood over Nhor, and opened its jaws wide to devour him. But suddenly, a ball of water struck it and knocked it to the ground, twisting as it fell. It quickly soared into the air to avoid another attack, while its companion kept firing at Laos and Nhor.
"Don't you ever learn?!" Laos shouted.
He launched a wave of water from the ground that turned the fire into rising steam. Then, Laos unleashed several slashes, but a gust from the wyvern's wings blew away the steam cloud as it flew off. The two wyverns then began circling in the sky in perfect harmony after failing to catch any prey on the ground.
"Two of them... this is tough. We have to bring them down," Nhor said.
Laos didn't reply. He just kept staring at them. The warriors fired more arrows, but none landed. It seemed that in the past, with only one wyvern, things weren't as difficult, but now, with two of them, it was impossible to focus on a single target. After some time circling above, they landed again.
"I get it now..." Laos whispered.
He fired a few cold spirals at one of them and managed to wound its neck, but not badly enough to make it flee into the sky. Then both wyverns began spewing fire. As usual, Laos blocked all the fire attacks, but this time, unlike before, the warriors unsheathed their swords and weapons and moved in before the wyverns could take off again.
They began striking the wyverns repeatedly. The wyverns thrashed, trying to shake them off, and then opened their mouths. Sensing danger, the warriors quickly backed away as the wyverns began breathing fire again. This time, the flames were too intense for Laos to block, and they were all forced to retreat.
Still, the wyverns advanced fast. They spread their wings and extended their talons, and in a swift strike, one of them slashed Laos' shoulder before flying off again. Blood gushed from the wound—its claws had dug deep. One of the warriors quickly ran up and pulled out a large plant, then started rubbing it on Laos' wound.
The pain was intense, but the plant stopped the bleeding and seemed to cleanse the wound. Laos drank a potion to ease the pain, then returned to the battlefield with his sword, where Nhor stood stunned, watching the wyverns flying above. But Laos had realized something.
"They store fire in the sky and release it on the ground. We have to kill them while they're flying," Laos said.
"Then we need to slow them down," Nhor replied.
"Yeah... but how?"
It seemed no one had an idea for how to slow the wyverns down. So, Laos began launching multiple attacks at them, hoping to land a hit. After a while, he realized that his random attacks wouldn't help. The smart move now was to focus and only attack when he was sure.
"Aqua Rains!" Laos shouted.
This time, after switching to his second form, freezing rain poured down rapidly and managed to injure them. At that moment, an arrow pierced the eye of one of them. The creature began flying erratically, blinded in one eye. This was the perfect chance for a follow-up—this time, a fatal blow.
"WATER SLASH!!!" Laos shouted powerfully, using the first form to enhance the slash.
He landed a solid hit on the one-eyed wyvern. A deep wound stretched across its left side, and it started bleeding heavily. It seemed to lose the ability to fly, dropped suddenly, and tried to get back on its feet—but at that moment, a human figure stood over it and stabbed its previously wounded neck. Laos kept driving his sword in deeper, while the wyvern thrashed until it finally died.
"That was amazing. Who hit its eye?" Nhor asked.
"Me," one of the warriors raised his hand.
"What? That's me, you liar!" another warrior suddenly shouted.
"You peach-head, I'm the one with red-colored arrows!!"
"Silence, there's still one more."
Up high, the wyvern continued to fly. It was bleeding a little, but it had no severe wounds. It was circling in the air, staring down at its enemies with its green eyes. The blood matched its crimson color, and its wings flapped powerfully—a sight that Laos found truly impressive. Amid the trees and high up in the clear blue sky, a crimson wyvern soared. It was a deeply fantastical scene.
"Leave it to me," Laos muttered as he stepped forward.
"What?!" Nhor repeated.
"If anything happens, I'll ask for your help."
After that, Laos gripped the Sea Blade tightly in his right hand, and with his left, he drew his other sword. Then he started running—to show the wyvern that he was alone. And sure enough, the wyvern followed him. They continued advancing until Laos suddenly stopped, prompting the crimson beast to halt as well. They stared each other down.
Then, the wyvern attempted its usual method of attack—spreading its wings and stretching out its legs to dive. Laos blocked its claws with both swords, then quickly leapt backward. The wyvern didn't give him any time to breathe, advancing and starting to breathe fire. As usual, the fire had no effect on the Astral Sword. Swiftly, Laos began slashing multiple times at its face. The strikes were powerful, leaving deep wounds on the wyvern's face.
The wyvern backed off again and started flying after learning a harsh lesson from an NPC. Laos stood there, watching its rapid movements. He then unleashed a massive slash that struck one of the wyvern's wings, disrupting its balance. With no other choice left, the wyvern descended to face its opponent on the ground.
"Hah, wyverns are easy if you can launch ranged attacks," Laos muttered as he switched his sword to its second form.
Once the wyvern landed, Laos quickly fired several spikes. The wyvern tried to defend itself with fire, but the spikes easily pierced through the flames and struck it. Fired up, Laos charged at the wyvern with both swords and tried to stab both of its eyes at once.
The wyvern spun around quickly and managed to knock down the cocky NPC by sweeping his legs with its tail. Laos quickly got back up after throwing aside his iron sword to use his hand to push himself up faster. He then dashed out of the way just in time before the wyvern could crush him. At that moment, Laos unleashed a massive ground wave that launched the wyvern into the air and then slammed it back down to the earth.
The wyvern began to pant, and Laos moved to stab it again as usual. But suddenly, the wyvern rose up, refusing to surrender. Its stubbornness clearly irritated the NPC. Then, at lightning speed, the wyvern lunged at him with its jaws open and managed to graze Laos' wrist with its fangs. The wound wasn't too deep, so Laos took advantage of the opportunity as the wyvern's mouth was still open, and shouted: "Eat this!!!"
At that moment, he launched a massive water ball directly into the wyvern's mouth. It moved so fast that it crushed the wyvern's insides from within. The crimson-scaled beast collapsed dead, and Laos stood over it, gripping his sword. Nhor and the others arrived shortly after, shocked to see the wyvern dead—it was the last thing they expected.
"He killed a wyvern alone again..." one of the warriors murmured.

They returned to the village, but the place was empty. So Nhor picked a tree leaf and blew into it, producing a high-pitched whistle. A long silence followed, until Rose reappeared along with the village residents. There were many of them, and it seemed no one had been hurt. Rose looked them over and saw no one was injured either, so she smiled warmly and said: "Are they dead?"
"Yes," Nhor replied.
"Lady Rose, treat Laos' wound," one of the warriors suddenly said.
"Of course. Come here, Laos!"
Laos revealed the wound on his shoulder. Rose healed it with her spell, and joy spread across her face. Not just hers, but everyone's. Finally, all the wyverns in that nest were dead. It looked like a new era of peace was about to begin in this village—Bloomy, the village of mushrooms and trees... and no more wyverns.
"He killed one of them by himself," one of the warriors repeated.
"Amazing... thank you, Laos," Rose suddenly whispered.
"Then we'll buy those two wyverns from you," Nhor said.
"To celebrate this victory, I'll give you a discount!" Laos replied with a slight smile.
"Alright! In honor of this victory and Laos' discount, let the Bloomy Village celebration begin now!" Rose declared.
Laos had completed the wyvern nest mission and gained some reputation. No—not just reputation, but a strong and special status in this village. A status he never dreamed of. But is this the end, or does Laos still have other goals to pursue in this world? At the very least, he was no longer just a despised servant—he had become a hero in the eyes of many. And with that, a new chapter in Laos' life had begun—a chapter called the Wyvern Slayer, or... the Slayer.
