Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Fall of a Genius
But what no one knew was that the random teleportation had thrown him directly into the Ancestral Land of the Shao Family!
After being transported to the Shao Family's Ancestral Land, Yi Fang found himself in an ancient forest brimming with primordial energy. He was still injured, but the will within him pushed him forward. He didn't know where to go, but he was certain of one thing… he had to survive!
It wasn't long before he encountered Shao Yan.
At first, Shao Yan was cautious of him, but she quickly noticed that despite his miserable appearance, this young man had eyes that refused to give up.
Crossing her arms, Shao Yan said, "You look like a stray. How did you end up here?"
Yi Fang let out a bitter laugh.
"I don't know myself… but it seems fate has brought us together here," Yi Fang replied.
Conversations began to flow between them, and unexpectedly, Shao Yan felt a strange sense of ease while talking to him. He was honest—not pretending to be strong or aloof like others—but real.
As days passed, they faced many trials together in the Ancestral Land. They fought side by side, braved countless dangers, and shared unforgettable moments.
"You know, I never expected to meet someone like you here…" Shao Yan muttered once, gazing at him as they sat around a campfire.
Yi Fang looked at her with a soft smile.
"And I never expected to find someone willing to help me… but I'm grateful for it."
Deep inside, Shao Yan began to see Yi Fang differently. He was no longer just a lost boy she met by chance—he had become something more…
And slowly, her fate began to drift away from Su Ling, as she started to embrace Yi Fang as the true Child of Destiny.
After a year of trials and adventures in the Ancestral Land, Yi Fang and Shao Yan finally arrived at the Shao Family's Ancestral Temple.
The temple was an ancient, colossal structure that radiated a sacred light. Mysterious engravings covered its walls, exuding an aura of immense power.
As Shao Yan approached the gate, she gently placed her hand on it…
"Whoosh!"
In an instant, the massive stone gate trembled and opened on its own, as if responding to her bloodline!
Yi Fang, standing beside her, looked at her in astonishment—but he wasn't completely surprised. After all, this was her family's Ancestral Land.
Shao Yan stepped inside, holding Yi Fang's hand, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
"Well, Yi Fang, this is my ancestors' temple," she said softly, looking at him. "You can take anything you want, but I must go forward alone… My father told me that something awaits me in the temple's depths, and you won't be able to go any further since you're not part of my family."
Yi Fang hesitated for a moment but eventually nodded.
"Alright, I'll wait for you here."
Shao Yan smiled at him before letting go of his hand and stepping toward the deeper parts of the temple, leaving Yi Fang alone in the outer hall, where treasures, scrolls, and ancient weapons were scattered everywhere…
But what no one knew… was that this place would completely change Yi Fang's fate!
Three days later
In the Shao Family's main hall, the atmosphere was tense. Shao Li, the family patriarch, sat with an imposing presence, while Shao Yan stood before him, her eyes shining with newfound understanding.
She was no longer the confused girl she once was… Now, she knew what she had to do.
In a calm yet resolute voice, Shao Yan said, "Father… I understand now. I was lost, but after entering the Ancestral Temple… I realized the truth."
Shao Li raised an eyebrow slightly but did not interrupt her.
"The young master of the Su Family… is not my destiny. What was between us was a mistake." Shao Yan declared. "Now, I am certain… I will not stop Yi Fang from killing him. Instead… I will stand by Yi Fang, and I will let fate take its course."
Silence filled the hall before Shao Li finally spoke, his voice calm but carrying the weight of a warning:
"Shao Yan, if you have truly understood, then there is no turning back. You must commit to your decision, for there is no room for regret on the path of destiny. The road you have chosen is not an easy one… and the decision you have made will have consequences—ones you may not be able to undo. But remember, no one can escape their fate, even if it means ending the life of someone who was once dearest to you."**
Shao Yan did not hesitate. She met her father's gaze with unwavering confidence and responded:
"I will not waver. I will do what I must to fulfill my destiny… even if the price is killing the one I once loved."
Deep within her heart, there was a hidden struggle… but the fate of the world would not allow her to choose.
Su Ling was destined to die at Yi Fang's hands… sooner or later!
That was a truth that would never change.
Three months later
Deep within the secret realm, where the greatest powers had gathered in search of treasures and opportunities, the most important battle had come to an end… but with only three strikes.
Yi Fang spoke, his voice calm yet filled with disdain: "Is that all you can do?"
He stood there, his face covered in minor wounds, but his body still brimming with power. In contrast, Su Ling lay on the ground, utterly defeated… his four limbs severed!
He was no longer the arrogant young man, no longer the genius everyone once praised… He had become nothing more than a broken man, helpless and unable to move.
Lifting his head with great difficulty, his trembling eyes caught sight of Shao Yan, who stood there, watching him with tears in her eyes.
With a weak, barely audible voice, he whispered in desperate plea:
"Shao… Yan… help me… save me… I… don't want… to die…"
Yet, despite the tears streaming down her cheeks, she did not move.
Taking a deep breath, she tightened her grip on her sword, then whispered in a voice filled with pain, yet unwavering resolve:
"Young Master Su Ling… please, forgive me. I cannot do it. I cannot stand against fate… However, I promise you, I will end your life with my own hands, without pain… as a tribute to what we once had.
"Please… forgive me…"
Su Ling lifted his eyes to her, disbelief filling them, as if his mind refused to accept reality.
But before he could say another word…
The blade gleamed in the air, and his head fell to the ground.
As Su Ling's body collapsed, Shao Yan felt an unbearable emptiness in her heart. Tears filled her eyes, but no amount of tears could wash away the pain she felt.
This was the end— a new beginning, but also a point of no return.
Thus ended the fate of Su Ling, the one destined to be nothing more than a mere side villain in this world…
