It had only been a few hours since Dobby told him Hermione was in the Headmaster's office. Now he was in the mess hall eating dinner when he felt Dobby's tug. Evan excused himself and made his way to latrines. Once there he checked to see if it was empty, locked the doors and silenced the room wandlessly. "Hey Dobby! What's going on?" he asked. "Headmaster Whiskers see memories. Bad old master Blondy say he did many bad things. Then Headmaster Whiskers tries to take everybody's memories but Dobby blocks spell without Headmaster knowing.
Professor Kitty, Miss Harry Potter's Grangy, Mr. Harry Potter's Wheezy and Mr. Greeny leave office for Professor Kitty's office. Miss Harry Potter's Grangy tell Professor Kitty Hogwarts no longer safe for her and wants to transfer. Professor Kitty tells Miss Harry Potter's Grangy she must stay in school or have wand broken and magic bound. Miss Harry Potter's Grangy say she will stay in school until end of term, then transfer. She ask Dobby for safe room. Dobby shows her Room of Requirement. Miss Harry Potter's Grangy will only appear for exams." "Does Hermione need any help from me? Can she use my invisibility cloak?" Evan asked.
"Would Master Harry Potter consider bonding another elf to help? Winky must bond soon. She is not well and must bond or die. Winky can stay with Miss Harry Potter's Grangy and pop her to exams." Dobby replied. "I think we can do that Dobby. That way we can help both Winky and Hermione at the same time. Great idea!" Evan exclaimed. "Why don't you get Winky – but she must understand it would be under the same agreement we have" he continued. "Yes Master Harry Potter. Dobby be getting Winky now" and popped away.
A few minutes later Dobby appeared carrying Winky. She was weak. Evan asked "Winky, do you want to bond with me?" "Winky is a bad elf! Winky not staying with master." She cried. Evan repeated "Winky, do you want to bond with me and my family?" "Family?" Winky asked. "Yes. Right now my family is just me, but eventually I would like it to grow." He said. "Yes, Winky wants a new family." "OK Winky. I will bond with you, but there are some rules you must agree to: (a) you must take a bit of time off from working each week. I give Dobby one day a week off. He can do anything he wants during that day, except cleaning (b) I also give him 1 sickle a week for personal supplies and uniforms; (c) you are not to punish yourself. If you think you did something wrong, you must come to me to discuss it, and if we think you are deserving of a punishment, we find one that meets the crime, so to speak.; and (d) if you ever feel you want to break this bond and be free of my family, you must first come to me, and I will willingly set you free, but only if that is what you really want. Do you agree to these rules?"
"Yes, I will" replied Winky. Winky then took Evan's hand and placed it on her head "Now Winky, everybody thinks Harry Potter has been obliviated and his magic bound. I go by the name Evan Fenix. Will you keep my secrets?" "A good elf always keeps their master's secrets" Winky replied. "Thank you, Winky. Right now I have a very special task for you. Someone very important to me, my good friend, Hermione, is at Hogwarts. She is being attacked by the general student body for being muggle born, with the approval of the Headmaster. Would you be willing to help her? She will need someone to bring her food, books, and transport her to exams. Is that something you can do for her?" Evan asked. "Yes. Winky can do that." "Will you be able to protect her?" "Yes" Winky replied. "OK then Winky. Please watch out for her – she is very special to me." Evan concluded. With that Winky popped out. Having secured Hermione's safety, Evan unlocked the door and exited the latrines.
