Chapter 82 - Until Then

Somewhere else in the universe...

Two hooded figures glided swiftly through the midnight shadows, their forms ghostlike, blending seamlessly with the surrounding darkness. Their steps were hurried yet silent, pausing occasionally to peer anxiously behind, ensuring their clandestine passage remained unseen.

"Did you send the message?" a hushed voice whispered, gentle yet sharp with urgency.

"Yes," replied the second figure tersely, his voice carrying a hint of strain. "Exactly as you instructed. Seven days, no more, no less."

The first figure, shorter and more slender, hesitated. "Good. Any sooner and everything will collapse. Are you certain they'll listen?"

A scoff sliced through the tension, bitter yet reassuring. "It's the one thing I can count on in this life. I trust them more than I trust you, Bliss. Are you certain about your premonition?"

Bliss remained quiet, her figure tense beneath her cloak, the sharpness of his words lingering in the air. "You know how my visions work," she finally murmured, distant and contemplative. "It's one possible future... I'd rather prepare and be wrong than be right and fail."

Silence settled heavily between them until he finally broke it. "Why do you look upset?"

She offered no reply, continuing her vigilant watch of the foreign shadows encroaching upon them.

"Hey," his voice softened, reaching for her hand, stopping her retreat and pulling her gently into the veil of darkness. "Look at me. You're not really mad, are you?"

His fingertips brushed tenderly across her cheek, pulling her close, the other hand encircling her waist. Their breaths mingled, and without another word, he kissed her passionately, the world around them dissolving into insignificance. Bliss surrendered into his embrace, arms tightening around him, their foreheads pressed together in quiet unity.

"Are you ready?" he whispered softly.

She nodded, determination mingling with quiet sorrow.

Together, they emerged from the shadows, hands intertwined, walking steadily toward a distant ship as it loaded large, enigmatic crates. Without a sound, without a trace, they vanished into thin air, leaving behind only shadows and unanswered mysteries.
