Chapter 53 - LIII: Raid VI

After Lady Nagant entered the room she aimed her rifle-like arm at the woman with an eerie wide grin, her expression cold as ever. Beside her, Musha stood firm, his grip tightening around the hilt of his sword. His stance was steady, prepared for combat.

Meanwhile, Best Jeanist and Edgeshot locked their eyes with the remaining man.

Without hesitation, they stepped toward him.

Following closely behind them were Raiden and Tamaki, who had ignored the ongoing clashes between the sidekicks and the lesser enemies.

They weren't interested in battling the small fries, they wanted to see the real pro in action, they knew the other heroes could handle the rest behind and that they weren't needed there.

But as they entered the battlefield, they found the room almost already deserted.

The heroes had each picked their opponents, scattering as their fights spilled into different corners, and even breaking out of the room, leaving behind only wreckage.

The once-intact walls were fractured, furniture was reduced to splinters, and scorch marks from Endeavor's flames still smoldered.

Raiden's eyes swept the room, searching for any lingering threats—There he spotted the only thing left standing.

A golden retriever.

Dressed in a perfectly tailored suit, the dog sat in the center of the destruction, its fluffy tail resting on the ground. It was almost absurdly out of place, its calm demeanor making the entire situation even more surreal.

Raiden hesitated, then cautiously floated toward it. "Suneater, what do we do?" he asked, keeping a safe distance from the animal.

Tamaki, peering over his shoulder, tilted his head. "…Pet him?" he suggested uncertainly, taking a slow step forward.

But before they could move any closer, the dog let out a low, guttural growl.

The golden retriever began to grow at an alarming rate, his body expanding as his paws swelled to nearly five times their original size. His entire form stretched, muscles bulging beneath his shimmering coat, until he towered at an imposing 2.5 meters tall and at least five meters long.

His golden fur, now literally radiant under the flickering lights reflecting it like real gold.

Then, a thick black mane erupted from his neck, growing rapidly until it draped over his shoulders, partially covering his legs and back. His once-friendly canine features sharpened, taking on a more feline appearance.

His limbs thickened, his paws shifting into powerful claws—gleaming golden talons that scraped against the floor with a metallic hiss. Finally, his tail morphed, lengthening from its soft, feathery retriever shape into a sleek, whip-like appendage, ending in a deadly black blade.

Raiden's eyes widened as he took in the transformation. "Yeah… I don't think pet him is a good idea, that's definitely not a good boy," he muttered.

Tamaki took an uneasy step back, his voice unsteady. "D-Do we really have to fight it?"

Before he could retreat any further, Raiden reached out with a slight flick of telekinesis, stopping him in place. "Looks like it. for the looks of it, veryone thought it was just a pet, but this thing is clearly something else. Also, I doubt the heroes behind us could help in a while, they are still fighting."

"Maybe it still is just a pet? a bigger one," Tamaki murmured, though his expression betrayed his jocke. Regardless, he took a slow breath, activating his Quirk, his body beginning to shift in preparation for battle.

Raiden, already transformed and at full power, didn't need to trigger anything—he simply braced himself, ready to move.

Then, the creature let out a deep, guttural growl that resonated through the air.

"Woof."

But in their minds, somehow the meaning was clear:

"You will die, humans. You have invaded the master's home." It was the same ability Raiden had, he was a telepath.

Without warning, the beast inhaled sharply, its massive chest expanding to nearly twice its size. Raiden and Tamaki instantly recognized the danger.

"Get ready!" Raiden shouted.

In the next instant, the monster unleashed a thunderous roar. The sheer force of the soundwave shattered everything in its path, tearing through the air like an explosion and rushing straight at them.

Reacting in the blink of an eye, the two young hero aspirants shot off in opposite directions, dodging just in time.

The deafening blast passed between them, slamming into the reinforced doors at the back of the room and obliterating everything in its wake. Debris rained down as a cloud of dust and shattered metal filled the air.

Raiden didn't hesitate.

He activated his support abilities in quick succession. Calm Mind. Agility. Laser Focus. (A/N: Maybe I didn't make it clear but, Raiden is no longer calling his attacks, at least the old ones.)

His body responded instantly—his senses sharpening, his movements growing lighter, his mind steadying as he locked onto his target.

This wasn't going to be easy.

Seeing the destruction left in the wake of the beast's roar, Raiden reacted instantly, activating Double Team. In a flash, several afterimages of himself spread across the battlefield, each one charging a Shadow Ball in their hands.

For a brief moment, the massive dog seemed disoriented, its eyes darting between the clones. But then, with a chilling gleam of intelligence, it locked onto the real Raiden's gaze. A shiver ran down Raiden's spine—no one had ever seen through his illusion before.

Without hesitation, the beast unleashed another devastating soundwave, aimed directly at him.

Raiden countered with a Psyshock, and thanks to the boosted power from Calm Mind, his attack clashed against the shockwave midair.

The impact sent a ripple of force through the room, exploding in a blast of energy that shook the walls.

Meanwhile, Tamaki completed his transformation.

His body had become an amalgamation of various creatures—golden armored plating covered his limbs now turned into something like a massive gorilla, while serrated blades extended from his forearms.

A set of insect-like wings, also laced with razor-sharp edges, buzzed behind him.

He looked like nature's worst nightmare.

Without wasting a second, Tamaki charged, bringing one of his bladed arms down in a powerful slash aimed at the beast's torso. But before the strike could land, the creature's tail lashed out, intercepting the attack with impossible speed.

The collision rang through the air like a hammer striking metal. Sparks erupted from the clash as the force of the impact sent a gust of wind rippling through the battlefield.

The beast lunged at Tamaki, its massive jaws snapping forward, claws tearing through the air toward him. Tamaki barely had a second to react—his body shifted instinctively, sprouting armored tentacles from his back. They lashed out, striking the beast mid-attack, forcing it to recoil just slightly.

It wasn't enough to stop the attack completely. The claws and fangs still came dangerously close. But the brief distraction was all Raiden needed.

Seizing the opening, Raiden launched two Confusion attacks directly at the creature's head. The psychic blasts hit their mark, sending the beast crashing into the floor with a heavy thud.

Even after taking the hit, the creature refused to stay down. Its tail lashed out like a whip, forcing Raiden and Tamaki to retreat.

The fight quickly became a relentless dance—dodging, countering, striking, and evading. Every attack they threw was met with an immediate response. The beast wasn't just powerful—it was adapting.

And if they didn't find a way to finish this fast, it was only going to get harder.

Both of them did their best to dodge the beast's relentless swipes, its massive claws slicing through the air with terrifying speed. At the same time, they counterattacked whenever possible, but their strikes weren't doing enough damage. The creature's hide was simply too tough.

The only attacks that seemed to leave a mark were Tamaki's slashes, but even those barely cut through the surface.

"We need more penetrating power," Tamaki gritted out, his muscles straining as he blocked another swipe from the monstrous lion like dog.

"I'm putting everything I've got into these attacks, and I'm barely scratching him. We need something stronger."

Raiden's mind raced. "I'll try using rocks and bury him," he called back.

Clapping his hands together, he summoned five massive stones, each nearly the size of the beast's own body. With a flick of his wrists, he sent them hurtling toward the towering lion-like creature.

The boulders shot forward with incredible speed, slamming into the beast with enough force to crack on impact. The sheer momentum of the attack sent the creature crashing into the wall.

For a moment, it seemed like they had gained the upper hand. But in the very next instant, the beast tore through the debris, leaping back into the fray as if nothing had happened.

With terrifying speed, it lunged straight at Raiden.

Raiden barely had time to react, casting Agility and Calm Mind again in rapid succession. A familiar surge of power flooded his body, sharpening his reflexes and boosting his abilities even further.

"Alright… time to try the new move."

When he leveled up earlier that day, he hadn't just felt a general increase in his power—he had unlocked something new. A new technique.

Now was the time to test it.

Raiden focused his psychic energy, channeling it into his palms. Unlike Confusion or Psyshock, which were designed for direct strikes, he altered the flow of energy, molding it into something different.

As he swung his arm in a wide arc, a shimmering blade of purple energy extended from his motion. It wasn't solid, but it vibrated with raw psychic power, pulsing with a purple glow.

The beast charged forward—just in time to meet the razor-sharp edge of Raiden's new attack.

Psycho Cut.

The psychic energy struck the beast with precision, slicing through its thick hide and forcing it back several meters. The wound wasn't fatally deep, but it was enough to make the creature bleed. Finally.

If Raiden could land a few more slashes like that, they might just be able to take it down.

But the beast wasn't foolish. Noticing the gash dangerously close to its neck, it immediately stepped back, lowering its stance.

Its tail swung forward, curling protectively in front of its body and pointing directly at Raiden like a poised spear.

Slowly, it repositioned itself, angling to face both Raiden and Tamaki at the same time, wary of another coordinated assault.

For a brief moment, the battle paused.

In the silence, they could hear the chaos of the other fights raging around them. The entire building trembled under the force of distant clashes, dust and debris falling from the ceiling as if the whole structure was moments away from collapse.

Raiden and Tamaki exchanged a quick glance—no words were needed. They had to end this fight fast or at least move the fight away.

Without hesitation, Raiden summoned his power once more. Ancient Power.

Five massive stones materialized in the air, hovering for a split second before launching toward the beast with crushing force.

This time, however, the creature was ready. It inhaled deeply, its chest expanding like a bellows, and then unleashed a thunderous roar. The sheer force of the soundwave shattered the stones mid-flight, sending jagged shards flying in all directions.

But Raiden reacted instantly. With a flick of his wrist, he seized the airborne debris using telekinesis, halting them mid-air before they could scatter harmlessly.

At the same time, Tamaki whipped his bladed tentacles in a spinning motion, striking the suspended shards and redirecting them straight at the beast like a storm of deadly projectiles.

The creature responded just as quickly, swinging its tail with blinding speed, deflecting the incoming attack one by one.

Some of the debris found its mark, leaving small bruises across the beast's thick hide. A few shards even embedded themselves into its fresh wound, causing it to flinch for the first time.

Taking advantage of the opening, Raiden clapped his hands together, summoning a barrage of energy. "Swift!"

A cluster of sixteen glowing stars materialized around him, hovering for a fraction of a second before rocketing toward the beast in rapid succession. Each projectile struck with pinpoint accuracy, detonating on impact and sending shockwaves reverberating through the room.

The creature let out a low, guttural growl, its body shuddering from the repeated hits. Dust and debris were kicked up from the force of the explosions, momentarily obscuring its form in a haze of golden light and swirling smoke.

Raiden narrowed his eyes, his pulse quickening. Did it finally take some real damage?

Or was it just getting angrier?
