Pulling the female rhino back out of his life ring, he hopped on the saddle. Hoisting the tribesman in front of him onto the saddle, Elder Fei took a minute and jumped on the Rhino's back.
Wearing baggy brown pants and nothing else, they fit in fairly well with the tribesman. The difference in tanning wasn't too great, so it worked.
As the rhino led them deeper through the hills, Yin Kai saw flowers and some wildlife that he had never seen before. Coming upon a picturesque valley, the rhino moved forward.
Torches lit the sides. On cliffs to both sides of the path, bowmen held their arrows loosely nocked.
As they breached the dirt path, a patch of grass with several Rhinos grazing could be seen. Next to it was a small fenced area with baby Rhinos.
The rhinos were predominantly black. A silver one stood out, as well as a smaller, white rhino gallivanting around.
The rhino carried them to the end of the path, where small housing areas were built into the cliff face.
The central space had a door. From it, an old and decrepit elder came forward. Holding his arm was a strong man.
"Young one, why do you come here?" His whispers echoed across the valley.
"I come to unite the tribes of the great plains under the leadership of the Rhino Tribe."
Yin Kai spoke frankly.
"And on whose authority and what grounds do you make this claim?" The elder asked.
"I make the claim not for myself, but for him!" Yin Kai shouted and gestured towards the then appearing Bian Lei.
Bian Lei pawed the ground and roared. The roar sounded like thunder through the valley. Holding their ears, the tribal members fell to the ground. Smirking, Bian Lei stared coldly at the elder.
A large white rhino walked out from the elder's cave. With a stare it gauged its golden rival. It slowly paced towards Bian Lei before sniffing him. Lowering its head, the monstrous rhino backed up until it was level with the old man.
The old man spoke. Cupping his hands, he approached Bian Lei. "As the rhino makes his own path among the forest, so the path has been made for you."
Bian Lei snorted.
Turning to Yin Kai, he added, "How will you conquer them? We have waged countless battles for years and years, to no appeal."
Yin Kai smiled. Grabbing Fei Li's shoulder, he spoke two words. "True Immortal."
The frazzled elder smiled. "Come, let's celebrate. Nido, prepare a feast!" The large, sturdy man bowed.
The elder pointed at Yin Kai. "You, come with me!"
Yin Kai cupped his hands. "Thank you, elder."
"Fei Li, meet the people and fit in. Find a pair of clothes and go tribal."
Fei Li looked at him with a dumbfounded expression. 'When did this brat become my boss?'
As he disappeared into the cave, Fei Li startled himself awake. 'Might as well see where this goes…'
With a start, he began to talk with the man called Nido.
Yin Kai sat on the floor across the wrinkled elder. "To business." With his cup of wine, he saluted the elder.
"We can take the three tribes by ourselves. However," he added, "When we bring them back, the people will be too great. We need more houses and locations for them to live, as well as a way to sustain so many."
'Phoebe.'
'Yes, master?'
'I'm sending Bai Re and a couple of chickens to you. I want as many chickens as you can provide in the next three days.'
'Alright!'
With a subtle movement, Yin Kai placed his hand on his stomach. A small spatial ripple appeared as he transferred the chickens.
"Elder, this one is Yin Kai. My Rhino is Bian Lei. May I ask your name?"
"I am the nameless Chief, and have been since I took my position as our tribe's leader. Now that you are the new chief, we must discuss our practices."
"I have no desire to become the tribal chief. Instead, I would become the Great Plain's Chief of Chiefs."
"Be that as it may, you are our tribal chief first. If you succeed in uniting the plain, I will once again claim my position as chief until the rhinos of our tribe deem it time for change."
"What are your traditions?"
"Our traditions are many, and as for the ones that relate to the position of tribal chief, they are still fairly great in number."
