Shihouin Kongchan appeared to be a very old and serious figure. His skin color, characteristic of the Shihouin family, was darkened, a legacy passed down through generations. Given the long history of the Shihouin family, it was clear that this old man was both famous and powerful.

The Shihouin family had long been known for its expertise in White Hits and Shunpo techniques. Long before the development of Shinigami's slicing techniques or Kidō, and even before Nimaiya Oue had created the Zanpakutō, the Shihouin family had mastered these two techniques, making them grandmasters in their own right.

Over the centuries, the Shihouin family had continued to perfect and advance White Hits and Shunpo. Each new generation of family leaders prided themselves on developing new fighting methods.

Anyone who could develop new combat techniques became a revered master in Shihouin family history.

Shihouin Kongchan was such a person. He had created a new technique based on Shunpo, a development that set him apart as one of the greatest warriors of his time. He was also the only one still alive among the Shihouin family members who had contributed to the family's extensive martial legacy.

The other senior figures who had pioneered techniques before him had long since passed. This only served to underscore the immense significance of Shihouin Kongchan's achievements.

When Yoruichi entered the room with Arima, Shihouin Kongchan's eyes gleamed with a sharp intelligence. He glanced at Yoruichi before speaking.

"Yoruichi, please sit next to Master Arima."

"Yes, Grandpa," Yoruichi responded, a rare reserve in her voice.

Yoruichi was usually carefree and easygoing, but in front of her grandfather, she adopted a more formal demeanor. From a young age, she had understood that she was destined to inherit the leadership of the Shihouin family. She would bear the weight of responsibility as the family head, not only because she was the only child of her generation but also because her father lacked the necessary strength and qualifications to lead.

Yoruichi had exceptional spiritual power, and although she was playful and often sought freedom, she also understood the burden she carried. When the time came, she could be reliable and serious, never acting impulsively.

That said, the situation of the noble families was a complex one. Outside of the prosperous Tsunayashiro family, which was divided into the main house and a branch family, both the Kuchiki family and the Shihouin family faced a lack of successors.

Shihouin Kongchan's son was too weak to take on the heavy responsibility of leading the family. Similarly, Kuchiki Aojun, the son of Kuchiki Ginling, was also unsuitable for leadership due to his mediocre qualifications.

However, unlike Kuchiki Ginling, who insisted that his son become a Shinigami despite his lack of potential, Shihouin Kongchan had not forced his son to take on a role he was not fit for. Instead, he had accepted that his own time was limited and that he could hold the family legacy for a few more years until a suitable successor emerged.

Fortunately, his granddaughter, Yoruichi, was immensely talented, a fact that filled Kongchan with great pride.

Shihouin Kongchan turned his attention to Arima, his eyes glinting with recognition.

"Master Arima, I've long wished to invite you here for a private conversation ever since I heard of your return to Seireitei. But I couldn't find an appropriate reason to reach out. Thankfully, Yoruichi has entered the Spiritual Arts Academy, and with you being a teacher there, I found the perfect excuse to invite you here."

Kongchan spoke candidly, explaining his motives behind the invitation. Then, he added with a respectful tone, "Please, do not be offended, Master Arima."

Yoruichi, who had been listening quietly, was intrigued. She had always known her grandfather was a formidable figure, but she couldn't help but wonder why this relatively young man, Arima, commanded such respect from him. Arima was merely a calligraphy teacher at the Spiritual Arts Academy. Why did her grandfather treat him with such reverence?

Arima, maintaining his usual composed demeanor, responded, "Master Shihouin, you are too kind. I am merely a commoner. How can I possibly deserve the honorific title of 'Master Shihouin' when your family is one of the five great noble houses?"

Kongchan's expression softened, and he looked at Arima with a knowing gaze. "Why speak in such modest terms, Mr. Arima? Our Shihouin family is not one like the Kuchiki family, obsessed with aristocratic dignity. To me, nobility is just a legacy left by our ancestors—a lingering shadow. But as time passes, the true strength of a noble house lies not in its bloodline but in its heirs."

He continued, "Over the long years of Soul Society, countless nobles have disappeared and declined. The great nobles are not that noble."

"On the contrary, people like Lord Arima are the truly noble people. It is precisely because of your existence that this world has remained stable to this day."

Kongchan spoke with deep admiration. Every member of the Zero Division was considered one of the strongest beings in the world. Though Kongchan didn't know the exact reasons for Arima's departure from the Zero Division, his presence there indicated his power had reached the very top.

The Shihouin family's respect for Arima went beyond his strength. It was also about the recognition of his legacy and the crucial role he had played in maintaining the stability of the world.

"I still remember when Master Arima came to Shihouin's house to study," Kongchan said with a hint of nostalgia. "At that time, Mr. Arima looked almost the same as he does now, but I am already so old."

Arima nodded slightly, acknowledging the sentiment. There was an unspoken bond between him and the Shihouin family that spanned many years, rooted in both history and personal connections.
