Chapter 106 - Chapter 106 - Watermelon

The Karasuno players can be seen on the court playing a match against Shinzen, and the scoreboard shows a partial result of 17-17. It was Naguri's turn to serve towards Karasuno's court.

"THIS ONE'S MINE!" shouted Tanaka as he received the serve and directed the ball to Kageyama.

"REMEMBER THE SYNCHRONIZED ATTACK, JUST LIKE THEY DO!" shouted Daichi, guiding the Karasuno players to execute the next synchronized attack, which was also the opponent's main play.

"Got it..." said Kageyama as he made a set with a jump that crossed the court, first passing by Hinata, who managed to draw Shinzen's blockers. As soon as they landed, they were already prepared to block again, but this time the ball went towards Tsukishima, who tried to fake that the play was for him, though it didn't seem very convincing. The ball then went to Tanaka at the back of the court, who faced a triple block and was stopped by Chigaya's hands.

"Hey, Tsukishima! You've got to make it look more convincing! If not, no one's going to fall for our synchronized attack fakes!" said Daichi.

"Yeah! If I were the opposing libero right now, I wouldn't believe for a second that you were the one attacking in that play," commented Nishinoya, shaking his head in agreement with his own words.

"Sorry, I'll do it differently next time," said Tsukishima, apologizing, which left everyone a little surprised.

"That guy... did he just sincerely apologize?" said Kageyama, still slightly shocked.

"I'd say so... he's really trying to put in the effort to get better... looks like my plan to provoke him with the imminent loss to Ushiwaka is working!" said Hinata, smiling as he watched Tsukishima adjust his glasses, looking focused.

After Naguri served again towards Karasuno's court, it was Nishinoya's turn to receive without any issues and direct the pass to Kageyama.

"Nice receive," said Kageyama, this time making a quick set to Tsukishima, who let the ball pass this time, swinging at the air with growing determination in his eyes. He managed to make two blockers fall for the bait of his team's synchronized attack, but Chigaya was able to keep up, jumping to block Karasuno's attack. After passing by Tsukishima, the ball went to Hinata, who, after jumping, managed to hit the ball hard over Chigaya's head, securing the point for Karasuno.

"Nice, Tsukishima! This time you did the attack right!" said Tanaka, slapping Tsukishima on the back, which earned him a glare.

"Let's win this set! We can't keep losing like this!" said Hinata, trying to motivate the team.

"YEAH!" everyone shouted in unison as the match ended with Karasuno winning 25-23.

After finishing the game against Shinzen, the players found out that some family members had decided to share some watermelons, so the games stopped for a few minutes so the players could eat.

"Lev, you don't know any Russian, so you don't usually visit Russia?" asked Hinata while eating a slice of watermelon with Lev and Kenma by his side.

"I think it's been about three years since I last went to Russia, but my sister really likes it there, so I'm forced to go because of that!" said Lev, also eating.

"Wait, you don't like Russia, and you have a sister?" asked Hinata.

"Not really! It's way too cold! And yeah, I have an older sister," replied Lev, spitting some watermelon seeds away.

"Hmm... I've heard that in some parts of Russia, during certain times of the year, you have to leave your car running because it might freeze and stop working!" said Hinata, recalling a fact from his past life.

"Yeah, probably in Siberia," commented Kenma, biting into his watermelon slice.

"That's right! Siberia! From what I remember, there are tigers typical of that region, right? I should name one of my attacks after that! Like the Siberian Tiger Attack!" said Lev, smiling.

"Please don't! How is that any different from Kuroo's embarrassing pre-game speeches?" commented Kenma.

"The difference is that mine is cool!" said Lev, smiling and looking happy with his new idea.

"Hey, guys! Come over here!" called Kuroo, who was talking with some members of Karasuno.

"Do I really have to go?" sighed Kenma as he watched Hinata and Lev head over to where the conversation was happening.

"I heard from your teammates that you're developing a new way to spike? Is that why your attacks are looking more powerful?" asked Kuroo.

"Hmm, it's not so much about how I hit the ball... it's more about the movement I make with my arm before hitting it, but yeah, that's why I've been able to improve the power of my spikes!" said Hinata, smiling triumphantly.

"Well, I had noticed something strange! But it seems like you can't do it with your left hand. In the free practice... the attack you made with it was really bad," commented Kuroo, laughing.

"Well, I scored in that situation, didn't I?" teased Hinata.

"Because there was no one to receive it, you idiot... in a real game, that would never work!" said Kuroo.

"Actually, I think this time he's right!" said Tanaka, analyzing Kuroo's response with his hands on his chin.

"HEY! Let's get started!" called Sugawara, gathering the Karasuno members.

"The next game will be between our teams. Good luck!... because playing like that, you're going to need it!" Kuroo took the opportunity to tease a little more as he walked away.
